The Gratitude Project: List 3 Things That You Are Grateful For...
by LisaMeighanMScGMBPsS
Last post
November 12th
...See more Hi there, Today we will learn a little more about gratitude and learn how to express this. Studies have shown that if you practice daily gratitude practice, it can make you feel happier and improve your health. What is Gratitude? Gratitude is the expression of appreciation for what one already has and not ones future desires or hopes. It is generated from within. This social emotion strengthens relationships, and its roots run deep in evolutionary history, and it stems from the survival value of helping others and being helped in return. Studies show that specific areas of the brain are involved in experiencing and expressing gratitude. Brain scans of people assigned a task that stimulates gratitude show lasting changes in the prefrontal cortex that heighten sensitivity to future experiences of gratitude, thus feeling happier and healthier. Please list 3 things that you are grateful for and share daily if you feel comfortable to do so!

It is more like a place to learn about how online therapy at 7 Cups could help you deal with life and the many challenges it presents. If you have any customer service-related questions please email support@7cups.com as they cannot be answered in this thread. Finally, please avoid questions about medication as these are best suited to be answered by your physician, and anything not normally discussed in 7 Cups forums. I hate Maldaptive daydreaming so much

...See more I hate it so much. I use to daydream about video games with themes of war, violence and action later on i imagined being in sports. I used to imagine myself in the game when i was daydreaming as a kid and young teen. Now i think about it makes me uncomfortable and crazy because in real life im very gentle person. But this disorder ruined me and my social skills and made me stay immature. Like i had differnet norms and habits than everyone like depressive fantasies different music and weird music like from video games. Im not interesting to socialize with and i couldnt relate socially to a lot of people and i was never really funny and i have low self esteem. Recently i changed my habits watching new movues listening to music, recently social life slightly better but i wished i had developed new habits years ago and develop better social relationships. Does anyone feel like this?
Dealing with Academic Pressure

...See more Dealing with Academic pressure Maintaining a good academic record is what most of us aspire to achieve nowadays. The methods of achieving it are varied and are different for different people. However, one common method to ensure good marks in your examinations was, is and always will be – hard work and determination. However, some people may be putting in sufficient effort and may still feel unsure about their capability to perform. If you are such a person, you are not alone. But fear not, for I have the perfect to-do list for you to do so that you will not experience exam stress Make a study-schedule: § Familiarize yourself with the syllabus and material. § NEVER try to complete large amounts of portion in a small-time span – it almost always never works out, it is usually a waste of effort, time and energy. § Give yourself small rewards after completing your task for the day. § It is okay to have days where you aren’t as productive in general but make sure to regulate the number of times you do this. § If you’re thinking of making a study group, ensure that the group will actually study during that time and not just sit around and gossip § Find what your preferred learning style is and learn via that method. If you are a visual learner, you could watch videos on youtube which explain the concept § Get creative! Try making some notes of your own which always works out well by writing down the material on paper. Execution of the schedule: § Adhere to the plan as much as possible. While it may seem tempting to delay some of the topics to the buffer days you have added, try to stick to the plan. § Never push forward the plan unless it Is absolutely necessary § Take breaks as appropriate. Exercising, sleeping enough and eating well are key for you to maintain your health. § Ensure you do not burn yourself out. § If you seem to struggle with a topic, reach out to your group or teacher for help. § Do not panic if you miss out on some topics. Buffer days may help or consider a crash course from a friend. § Do not doubt yourself or procrastinate – it only makes things worse at the end of the day. On the approach of the day of the exam § Try revising your study material again and practicing some questions § Ideally, practice some previous year question papers § Go through your syllabus to ensure you have gone through everything required and haven’t missed out on any portion. § Do your favorite hobby, step outside and take a breather, hang out with friends. With this I am sure that any one of you will certainly perform well in the examinations and also not have exam stress at all. Getting rid of your examination stress will at the end, lead you to performing better in the examinations and getting a good academic score. Also remember life is a marathon and not a SPRINT.

...See more The National Alliance on Mental Illness provides support, awareness, and resources to those living with mental illness through advocacy and fundraising events. This year I was blessed enough to participate in a 5K NAMI walk and donate 100$ to the fight for "Stoping out Stigma". The turn out was overwhelming. They had live performers and professional speakers sharing their stories and shared passion. I made it all morning without getting teary, but my strength wavered during the moment of silence to honor loved ones lost to mental illness. This is such a powerful movement, and I am proud to be a part of it. Be kind. Be well. https://www.nami.org/

Supportive Psychotherapy
by Ren
Last post
July 20th, 2021
...See more What is Supportive Psychotherapy? The primary goal of supportive psychotherapy is to strengthen the individual's ability to cope effectively with various life stressors. This is accomplished by: 1. Listening closely and actively 2. Showing genuine empathy 3. Helping clients have a better understanding of their current situation 4. Helping them explore the options available to them 5. Helping them find hope despite difficult circumstances 6. Reinforcing and strengthening their resilience to the challenges they face 7. Maintaining or building up their self-esteem 8. Encouraging them to share their feelings and thought Like most forms of psychotherapy, supportive psychotherapy is also geared towards reducing or alleviating symptoms of depression, anxiety, and other disorders. These qualities match active listening skills and is used by online therapists here at 7cups. Internet-based supportive psychotherapy is a type of supportive psychotherapy that is characterized by having a two-hour initial meeting between the individual and therapist, and then periodic and occasional study conducted by therapist through email and telephone. Who can Benefit from Supportive Psychotherapy? Supportive psychotherapy can be helpful to a wide range of individuals. However, it is especially ideal for the following types of individuals: 1. Those who are focused on surviving as opposed to self-actualizing (e.g. individuals with a chronic physical or mental illness and limited financial resources who are just trying to get through each day) 2. Individuals who are going through an acute crisis in their lives and doing their best to simply get through it 3. Individuals who currently lack a solid support system and are struggling to cope with a challenging situation 4. Individuals who would not respond well (e.g. it would cause more problems than it would be beneficial) to therapy designed to bring about any type of fundamental change In supportive psychotherapy, a very strong emphasis is placed on the relationship between therapist and individual. Therapists strive to make their clients feel supported, understood, and safe. This particular form of therapy is about as non-threatening as they come. Therapists dont poke and prod their clients for deeply personal information, or challenge or confront them as part of therapy. Instead, they work towards nurturing a warm, positive relationship with their clients. This, in turn, helps clients feel more inclined and comfortable working towards their treatment goals in collaboration with the therapist. How Supportive Psychotherapy Works: Supportive psychotherapy works by helping individuals make the necessary changes and tough decisions that will enable them to effectively cope with whatever challenging theyre facing. Challenges can include a wide range of things, such as the death of a loved one, a difficult life transition (e.g. getting divorced or changing jobs), dealing with a major setback, or learning to live with and manage a chronic physical or mental health condition. As with many other types of therapy, the process starts by encouraging the client to talk freely and openly about how he or she feels about and views the situation. A strong sense of trust in the therapist, including his or her ability to genuinely understand what the client is feeling, helps facilitate this process. That being said, its also important that therapy clients trust that the therapist believes in them. Benefits of Supportive Psychotherapy: Supportive psychotherapy offers many potential benefits for those who receive it. They include: 1. Greater flexibility 2. Improved coping skills 3. Increased adaptability to difficult events or situations 4. Improved self-esteem 5. Greater resilience 6. Increased emotional wellbeing and stability 7. Better relationships with others
