how did your first meeting with the psychologist go?
hi everyone, i may have social anxiety and i really really need to see a psychologist because i don't wanna live like this anymore. i booked a session yesterday afternoon because i felt so strong and ready but now (he sent me an email to decide day and time) I'm panicking and i feel like I'm a disappointment to myself. how was your first time with a therapist? were you scared? how did you overcome this fear?
Hey @WittyCar0607 . I'm glad to hear that you're getting professional support, that's a wonderful step in our mental health journey. I really hope that your first session goes well. You are not a disappointment for reaching out, despite the amount of stress and anxiety I am sure you under currently.
I cannot speak for the 7 Cups portion of "online therapy" but I have been seeing a psychologist in person for almost a year. It has it's ups and downs, but overall, they're really nice and respectful people who care about you and want to listen through what's happening. Each person experiences can differ from session to session, and therapist to therapist. If this one doesn't click for you, there are always other options as well. My biggest brain hurdle was "This is stupid. How is this going to help me? Mindfulness doesn't really do much for me anyway." I overcame those thoughts by just dipping my toes in and seeing what they had to offer. I went into the office with no prior thoughts of what may or may not happen, and just let the course unfold.
