Ways to cope with phobia?

addiefish October 7th, 2019

I have emetophobia and when anything makes me ill or my digestive system starts to act up from either stress or medication my anxiety goes through the roof because it triggers my emetophobia and I fear becoming ill. I have had emetophobia since I was a child and I basically grew up without it really getting in the way of life but ever since I had a minor setback a couple months ago while under the influence it seems like any coping or progress I had made while growing up with it had vanished like I am back in constant fear mode. Does anyone know any coping techniques for phobias? Or can someone point me to which mindfulness exercises help irrational fear or phobias it can be on 7cups or elsewhere like YouTube I dont mind. I am new so sorry if this is in the wrong location

@addiefish That's too specific an issue to give general tips on. You can benefit from some one- to-one support since you are dealing with some really specific issues that need to be worked on. If you are looking for support groups, there is an anxiety support group in here which you can explore and may be benefical for you. And for general mindfulness exercises- here's a link to check out and choose from. https://www.7cups.com/exercises/mindfulness/?showlist=1. Glad you are reaching out and sharing your struggles. Take good care of yourself!
