@OptimisticHuman123 I do not personally have any experiences but there are a lot of different resources out there for drug addition. Meth is a very addictive substance.

@OptimisticHuman123 My older brother has been a drug abuser for 30 years. 2 of my friends died of heroin and other opiate use .. I have had issues for a few years on opiates, but only tried meth once. I know a lot about the problem .. if you need someone to talk to?

I got on meth by accident. Just like all the other meth addicts. There are very few who don't demonize my addiction, and they make me feel closer to getting out than the many who wag their finger. But I gotta say, all those pictures of fuzzy tongues, sharp teeth, and sunken eyes made me put on my garlic necklace when ever I saw a user out in the daylight too. 7th grade health class didn't tell me that the ones I gotta watch out for are the ones who looks like me, who sometimes don't even know what this drug is. And the scary looking users, they have decades of a tangled mess to get out of. Right now, I just got my shoe laces all twisted. I may have forgotten to tie my shoes, but that doesn't mean I wanted to fall. I can't imagine how many accidents those people made to get where they are. No one becomes a meth addict on purpose.

I always tend to get all poetic and use a lot of metaphors but I think I made my point. I'm just happy that there are supportive people out there. I know if my family found out I'd never be able to rub off that darn 'METH ADDICT' stamp on my forehead. And I'd spend a lifetime trying to prove to them that I'm the same person as I was before, during, and after meth. ( Okay your a little different on meth, love the same subjects, have the same goals. But more jumpy, dehydrated, famished, sleep deprived, broke, and dependent).

@ThePuppy

Thanks for sharing.

You wrote well and too can relate which I hate.

How are you managing??

At the end of the day unfortunately everyone has, and is going to always have, opinions and on everything really!! The reality is, we can't at all do much about this as can only control our opinions which should be the only one that matters anyway!!

@tornwillow you're so right on the judgment/opinion thing. I really can only do so much, and what a waste of time to think about what others are thinking about.

My management is in baby steps and trial/error, but I'm putting in an effort to get clean.

I tried quiting cold turkey and that made me feel worse/disappointed when I got back on.

1st step was saying yes to non-user friends when they asked to hang out. 1 month to accomplish.

Step 2 was getting a new dealer. Primary was very abusive/manipulative. 2 weeks.

Step 3 (currently) doing things that use to make me happy, ie drawing, writing algorithms for music beats. Things that use release endorphins and I know will release endorphins when I'm off. So if I need that rush, I can recognize it and put my energy into those activities.

I'm sure step 4 will be journaling or creating a safe space to say everything that's going on. Sometimes I'll write a list of things I like about myself lol.

Then step 5 will hopefully be the actual process of getting off. Like no getting high before 10 am for 2 weeks and so on.

How is it going for you? How has your coping process developed?

Sorry for delay in response got lost in all the threads.

Wanted to check in....how are you going?

Your steps and plan seemed great but at the end of the day it comes down to just doing it.....if you wait till your ready you'll be waiting for the rest of your life.

It ofcause will be far from easy but will actually be easier than is presently when on the other side. You can do this, want it for yourself as if things don't change when will they. Break free xxxxx keep strong and feel free to chat anytime

Hello, I am new to this site but I decided I would leave a short comment on here for everyone to see. I'm 27 and didn't even try meth until moving from the east coast to houston. So I was 20 the first time o did it. And if u r an addict like me, you know all too well, just how fast things being to call apart and how fast you begin to lose the control you thought you still had. Unfortunately I'm sad to say that I am still active in my addiction but I'm hoping that this won't last too much longer but then again you know how that goes. So this is my post for now I'll probably post again later or tomorrow but if you'd like to talk or message me feel free to do so. Thank you all for taking the time to read this

@Little1houston thanks for posting....so sorry to hear of your hard times and yes I can relate. It is indeed frightening how fast everything can spiral out of control and how quickly reality becomes harder to deal with and face.

Persistence and perseverance are defiantly key, it won't be easy but it'll be worth it.

Yeppers a user for 17 years off and on depending on ability of mine to find a doctor willing to perscribe me proper ADHD meds. I have no intention in aquitting. I use it as a tool, ever so often abusing it. I can relate with the masturbation compulsion when I go on an abuse binge. Usually only when the product is of a certain nature I would call bonergak. I have in a 24 hr time period seriously as a male made myself finish eight times. At the time I was impressed with myself but as I write it her just realise how the drug alienates me from others and proper relationships forcing me to satisfy myself in such a manor because I am unable to maintain a relationship with a female partner@OptimisticHuman123
