Alcohol Abuse
ive been alcohol dependent for many years & I’ve not drank for 2 weeks. I need ideas on what to do when I’m having the urge to drink again. I’m really struggling.

A long time ago I met this guy named Al and my life hasn't been the same since because Al always assured me that everything would be alright If I listen to him. Since I've met Al, I've broken my front tooth, crashed several cars, got divorced, gone to prison, and lost everything! That whole time Al was right by my side. To my face Al would assure me its all going good, but behind my back he stabs me in the back, lies, and destroys everything Al touches. Do you want to know what Al's last name is? It's Al Cohol "Alcohol"
I just finished day 53 alcohol free, I did 235 days before that time. I plan on drinking in 146 more days. I promised myself, and gave my word that I wouldn't drink for 200 days. When I do drink, I will be very careful, and only drink on and off for about 10 days or about 2 weeks. After that I will promise myself to another 200 days. I'm sending lots of strength! Tag me and let me know how you're doing from time to time. Try to have a Happy Holidays!~

@Stevenjwr97 You've been sober 2 weeks! That's amazing. Hopefully you've been able to continue not drinking since you posted in December. I can only offer you ideas you've thought of yourself. Use this app. Text or call a support person, have someone hold you accountable. Drink tons of water and sparkling water. Go for long walks. Lock yourself in your room to get away from the alcohol. Journal. Make yourself go to bed. Long baths. Force yourself to sit and listen to albums and playlists. Reward yourself with desserts and candy. Exercise hard. Lose yourself in a TV show. Have at least 1 thing to look forward to each week, but dear god, be good to yourself and just try to get by one day at a time. This is my 1st day trying to get sober, so I have no real experience, but hopefully one of these suggestions helps. This is hard. We are doing a hard thing. I'm praying for you.

Hello,
A Big CONGRATS!! Day 1 is the first step to a better healthier and happier life.
Today is my day 72 :-) Alcohol-free! I have been able to get off of my daily dependence on oxygen, and I only use it at night now. The swelling of my feet has returned to normal, and my anxiety hasn't been overwhelming for sometime now and it feels good. I hope you both stay on your path to a better life. We can all do this!!~
Blessings, Day
