Poem I wrote
I have a disease, it called an addiction!!
And no, it's not just a made up condition!!
I live with it every day!!
Trying to hold it back, trying to keep it at bay!!
This addiction I have is alcohol!!
And with me, there is no such thing as last call!!
Once I start drinking I can't seem to stop!!
I'll keep drinking down to the very last drop!!
Addiction affects the way you think!!
It trys to make me believe i want or need a drink!!
But that's a mistake I cant afford to make!!
I have too much to lose too much at stake!!
I'm constantly living in fear afraid I will fall!!
What if I mess up what if I lose it all!!!
But one day at a time is what they say!!
Dont worry about tomorrow just make It through today!!
So every morning I choose to stay sober!!
And tomorrow is always a new day to star over!!
Those days will turn into weeks and weeks into years!!!
But the threat of relapse never disappears!!!
So I cant ever forget!!
I cant ever be afraid to admit!!
I am an alcoholic!! I can not drink!!!!!
No matter what my mind trys to make me believe or think!!

@Butterflee glad my poem can be a motivation for you! :) I write poems when I'm feeling depressed. Helps me get my feeling out :) So I have quite a few! Definitely will share more of them sometime!!
@Armywife010908 please do so because I do not want fake fade motivational stuff made up. I appreciate material from real people who go through what I'm going through myself. So keep it up👍someday I hope I will be able to write poetry again too...😔😔😔
@Butterflee for me sometimes the poems just flow and come to me all at once other times I might just start with a few phrases and get stuck so I take a break and come back to it and just keep adding until it's done :) poetry really helps me!! Hope you can get back into it too!! definitely is therapeutic!!

I can almost hear your voice. I hear a lot of strength and perhaps glimps of despair. I am glad you're taking the right path to begin this journey. My favorite quote from a poetry that describes you, " We are made with everything we have ever loved and things that couldn't break us" JM Storm. You're strong and I am glad you see it. Some don't so that's why we share our compassion in hopes that we can give ones who don't. Good luck and continue to update us.
