Tips for Studying? Share Them Here!
Hello, fellow students! Since the decade+ of me being a student on various levels, I found out there are certain ways of studying that suit me better than others. However, I'm always open to any tips and suggestions to make the exam period less torturous :P Also, I think knowing what studying methods other people use might serve as an inspiration to the rest of us :)
How do you like to study?
Are there any things that work great for you and you'd like to share them with others?
Thanks for sharing!
I find it helpful to keep those small skinny post it notes in my pencil case and when I get something wrong in class/struggle with a concept I can stick a little post-it next to the area I had trouble in to remind me of what I need to work on!
Prioritizing is also a big help! If you like studying a particular subject, chances are it's because you're already doing well at it... Identify the subjects you NEED to work on because they aren't your strong point and spend more time focusing on those! (Just don't forget to do little brush ups of the ones you are already good at so you don't forget the information!)
I like to get every thing in graphic art forms. I am in engineering stuff and sometimes you need to memorize things which is really hard to interpret normally.
so, I draw pictures of them ( not really cool pics! Just so that I can visualize them.) This helps me in exams. And you know, it's the reason I am such a fast learner. :)
Also, explaining things to fellow students does a real good job. You never forget about it then. :D
1. Ilovehighlighters toseperatevarious topics of information. Got 7 different topics in one text?colouryour pages!
2.use dividers that are bright to modivate you to do the work.
3. All the drawings and notes can do a world of good
4. If the information is complicated and you dont understand it first time round you can always record the sessions and replay it in your own time!
5. Keep track via a diary. I personally use google calander to remind me to do tasks - study is no different.
6. At the end of the week look ahead to see which assignment is due next and space it out so you have enough time to do them.
1. Dramatic music/Classical Romantic
2. A quiet space, and/or a study buddy.
3. Junk or street food! But only once per session :)
4. 7 Cups of Tea. I get encouragement when I talk with a Listener sometimes.
5. Depending on the subject, a comedy in the background.
Hope this all helps, friends.
This is a great site for music suggestions!:http://songza.com/discover/activities/working_studying_without_lyrics/
I like writing a list of topics I need to go through and plan and prioritise what I'll be studying first-last and I then cross these out once I'm done to give me a sense of control.
I have a question though: how to study without being a sleepy head?? All sorts of tips are welcomed..lol
I have no problem studying, the real problem is getting started. I just never 'feel like it.' What are some ways to motivate myself to study?
1. After you review or study a chapter, close the book, and then try to write down or think of what the chapter is mainly about and the key concepts. And then open the book to check if you got them right.
2. Use highlighters or colorful pens when taking notes or reading textbooks. Write your own thoughts in the blank space.
3. Study in a quiet space. Library is a good place to go because everybody else is studyingand you can get the feeling of studying. Bedroom is probably not a good choice for some people because people feel relaxed and are easy to get sleepy when studying near a bed.
4. There is a website called Cold Turkey. It helps block some websites when you are studying. I use it and it avoids me from being distracted.
5. If you need to stay up, at least get 2-3 hours of sleep. Otherwise, you will probably forget everything next day.
6. For Math, write down the questions you got wrong in quiz, exam, or exercise on a separate notebook. Then when you have time, try to redo them, and if you still get them wrong, you will find out which part you are not good at and maybe need to study again.
7. Do not study for several hours without taking a break. Take a five minute break every 40 minutes. If you are stuck in one subject or question for a long time, move on to another or it is just a waste of time sitting there cuz your brain is probably overwhelmed. Change a subject and then come back to that question later. You will probably find another way or get a new idea to solve it.
i feel the same problem! i am soo lazy! can someone give me tips?
I listen to Study Aid for Super Learning and Memory: 2 Hours of Alpha BiNaural beats or whatever sounds that can help me learn faster; you can find it on youtube. I found it helpful with my study course however, you feel sleepy after listening due to brain activity.
I like to listen to classical music in the background. Then every 2 hours or so I'll play video games for about 30 min
