10 tips for effective studying
Hey there!
My university gave me a whole set of tips to help their students deal with studying at home, in a stressful environment. Many tips are generally useful, too! These tips are for your 'cognitive' health, or, how to deal with learning!
Their 10 tops for effective studying are:
1. Use a day planner
2. Routine is key
3. Where do you study best?
Create a spot that works! A tidy desk, a kitchen table, what works for you?
4. Eliminate task avoidance
Use the '10-minute rule'. Study for at least 10 minutes, and perhaps once you're started you won't stop!
Make S.M.A.R.T. goals.
Use the 'Say-Do' method: tell friends or family when you are studying, and ask them to remind and support you.
5. Change your way of studying
Switch between different types of learning (reading, summarising, doing exercises).
6. Lots of short break instead of one long break
7. Study together
Use any video call app!
Last but not least, I really enjoy using the focusbooster app, or any pomodoro app, in which you study 25 minutes, get a 5 minute break, and repreat this until you've studied 2 hours! Then you get a longer break for 30 mins.
What helps you concentrate?
I found this post so helpful! Drawing a map or like a diagram of what I have to study, each topic, how much time it would take me to finish each one makes it easier for me to study anything. I do some of the tips that you mentioned and they are really useful too
@Mobariz I'm so glad these tips helped you a bit! I'm going to try to draw a diagram and see how long I need for each part, too! Thanks for sharing that one with me!
@OpenWindow
You're welcome, good luck with your studies, I really wish you the best
