Removing Badges

Fradiga December 1st, 2023

😊 Hi, kind reader

There is a badge I absolutely do not want in the collection I have on my profile. It is both untrue and offensive to me. 😱

So.... 🧐how can one remove or have a badge removed from the list?

😍 Thank you for your input, if any

@Fradiga Now I'm trying to guess the badge!

I think previously there's been more success with renaming if it isn't a role-based badge.

@AffyAvo

Thank you for replying. The badge I'd like to eliminate is the Oath Taker badge. I disagree with the oath and never took it, hence I wonder why it is on my page. Would you know how to proceed? Thanks for any help!!

Hey there @Fradiga, do you mean the "listener oath" badge?

This badge is a requirement for accessing some of the group chatrooms, as mentioned Here

And it's auto-rewarded to listeners when they reply/ make a post in this listener oath thread, so probably why you've recieved it as well.

The mentioned oath constitutes a general acceptance of what us listeners should follow here, I feel. What about this badge makes you feel uncomfortable and offended, if okay to ask?

I'm unsure if it can be removed manually, but tagging an admin so they can assist you better with it! @ASilentObserver 💛

@Sunisshiningandsoareyou

Thanks for the offer, Shining!

I am not aware that I took an oath anywhere since becoming a listener back in March 2020 and I regularly see in my notifications that the Listener Oath was taken by yet another person. I read that oath, and personally, I found it to be meaningless. Chalk it up to my generation or my culture, but it made me cringe. I noticed that I had that Oath Taker Badge in the list of Badges I have and I wonder whence it came and if it is the same thing?

@Sunisshiningandsoareyou

While I have no problem with the various responsibilities described, this type of oath, after all, is unenforceable. An oath of office, for instance in the US, is something in the political tradition (and it is often broken anyway). The oath on this website has no legal bearing and just sounds a tad grandiose. What I think the 7cups admin should come up with is a list of what is expected of the listeners and boxes for the aspiring listeners to read and click. I think it would be more cosmopolitan to do it that way.
