Journey

Definition: According to Google, 'journey' means an act of travelling from one place to another.

How it relates to SHR: Recovery is a journey. It is a long and winding road, down a path we have not been down before. It can be a long and tiring journey, but it will be a worthy one in the end. It will teach us many things that we can take into our lives in different aspects.

I've been trying my best not to commit self harm, I have injured myself multiple times and it's often during ptsd episodes. I don't know how to stop myself 😭

It's a great thing that you're trying not o self-harm. It can be so difficult when we have episodes of PTSD. Self-harm is a way of coping, so dealing with the underlying issues can help greatly. I hope you have or can find a good therapist and are working through your traumas. Sending healing hugs ❤️

My experience with SH has changed quite a lot over the 2 years I've been doing it. I still remember how frightening it was when I first got urges; it was confusing why I was getting those thoughts and scary to me that they seemed to come out of nowhere. I panicked a lot, it was a stressful, frantic time where I didn't know what was happening, or what to do, as I had no one to tell. But I have grown to understand the causes of it, and to control my use of it if I am in desperate need. It's no longer a huge warp in my mindset, it's a tool to be considered with respect and caution that I have control over. I know what signs to watch for that I'm getting close to it, and in general manage it much better.

Thank you for so bravely sharing your vulnerable side. There is great respect from me. ❤️ I'm glad you've worked through some of your issues and understood the cause of self-harm. Yes, it is a coping mechanism, and sometimes abstinence is not always the best goal. At the moment, management seems for you to be the best path. Sending you healing hugs ❤️

One part of my journey that I'd like to share is that it really is a journey. I can honestly look back and see different sections. While your in that 'section' it seems like that's all there is. But much later you see that that are so many parts. But I guess that's why they say hindsight is 20-20.

And something that has helped me immensely is that looking back I can see times where I thought I knew 120% that I had no way out and that it would never get any better. But things did get better, much better. And when I feel there is no way out now I look back on this journey and it gives me hope. Hope knowing that I can do this.

These days I start many things but I don't end any of them. I have a research to work on but I can't make any progress, I have a MA thesis to work on but I can't make a progress, I have no power to work and I feel lazy and in danger of failing but I can't help myself.

I dictate my decisions and actions thru valadations. The positive reinforcement is something that makes me feel full but its short term.🚃💨💨 My goal is to seek only the validation I need.
