I use SH to handle my anxiety TRIGGER WARNING
So I am self harming again, after a year of not doing it. I stopped after getting my servicedog, as he kept pawing at me, when I was picking at my skin or trying to cut. He made me feel at ease. But it didn't work out. He wasn't the right match for me in the end.
So I gave him up a few months ago, where they send him to another user. And since then I have been itching to self harm again to handle my anxiety. And I did that last Thursday. It helped, but I feel guilty about not feeling guilty, bc it helped! It helped right away.
So now I'm back to self harming, while waiting for a new match. I don't really know what to do about it, as it helps my anxiety. But I know at the same time that self harming and cutting is "bad" for you. I just... I feel like that if it works then I will keep doing it, you know?
Morning @TheMadHatterWasHere
I'm really sorry to hear you are using SH to handle your anxiety. How are you doing currently? Are there any other ways you think could help you cope with your anxiety? If you ever needed a distraction or someone to talk to you are more than welcome to PM me or another listener. Please don't feel like you need to struggle through this alone, let us support you as much as we can. π
Do you know how long it will be until you are matched with a new service dog?
@LunaHere Hello there. I have self harmed a few times since I wrote this, but I was matched with a servicedog last friday, and got him home last saturday. It's incredible how much he can calm me just by excisting. Just by sitting on my lap, letting me feel his weight on my body.
His name is Ted by the way. He is a small poodle π
Hey @TheMadHatterWasHere
It is great to hear from you. I'm so glad you were matched with a service dog and have been doing better since. How is he settling in? Ted is such a cute name, aww he sounds so wonderful. I'm so happy for you. π
@LunaHere I haven't self harmed since I got him, and I got him last Saturday. So that's good. He is settling in nicely, and loves going for walkies, so we walk all over these days so he can see the lake and nearby forrest π
Now I am enjoying all the joys of being a dog owner, but also the bad sides. Some idiot living just beside the path by the lake hadn't dogproofed his garden propperly, so his very angry, growling and snarling dog ran directly towards Ted, so I had to pick him up, to keep him out of harms way. But did the owner want to call her dog? No, did she get out of the garden to collect the dog, even though I told her to? No. The dog followed us about 50 meters from its home, and then I kicked after it (didn't hit it though ofc) to make it go away. Had to carry Ted 50 meters further, before the dog backed off :S
