Trigger Warning

Hey Amazing community!

I've been working on creating a special mind map of recovery tips for the holiday period. While this post is aimed at out holiday events period these techniques can be used all year round! This mind map was created from ideas of your peers within this community who have put their ideas forwards for things that work for them. Similar posts have been made but for some people they prefer things which are laid out in colour and in a spider diagram because it's something that helps them - we all work differently!! So here is my currently rather busy mind map!! However don't worry we will break this down into sections! heart

Distractions - These coping mechanisms are thigns which you can do when you are feeling you have urges to harm yourself but want to fight off and resist urges. These are tasks/ things you can do while in the moment of going through urges.

Healthier Alternatives - We know some people aren't ready to make that leap from self-harming to becoming clean so here are some ideas where you can test out healthier alternitives to methods of self-harm. These tend to be things which release similar endorphins to those such as cutting and burning ect but they have short term effects which help for "in the moment" feelings.

657xciN.pngLonger Term Projects - These are tasks/ things you choose to undertake which last longer than the "in the moment" feelings. They are something to help encourage you on your recovery. We understand relapses happen that's totally okay it IS part of recovery but you can pick yourself up and perhaps try to commit to one of these activities. It may last 2-3 days or 2-3 months! Whatever amount you try to give a go we're proud of you!!

Keep being super duper strong. You CAN do this, we're here for you within this community no matter what. All your efforts are amazing we know recovery is a hard step but we are with you, you're not alone!

@rebecca947

Yes I worked on it with a group of members in the SHR room they put lots of effort into giving me ideas for what to put as something that's helped them that they want to share with others!! laugh
