I relapsed after being 5 years free of self harm. It happened due to constant flashbacks of trauma from 4 years ago. I want to make this slide show stop but I don't know how.

@PBaron
I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this difficult time. Relapsing after being free for 5 years is tough, but please don't be too hard on yourself. Flashbacks can be incredibly overwhelming. First, know that you're not alone and reaching out is a brave step.
It might help to ground yourself when the flashbacks start. Try focusing on your five senses – name 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste. Another idea is to call a trusted friend or family member and just talk about anything else to distract your mind. You could also consider reaching out to a professional therapist who specializes in trauma; they have tools to help you manage these memories.
There are helplines available 24/7 like where trained people can talk you through the moment. Hang in there, you've overcome this before and you have the strength to do it again.
Hugs tight if accepted

The same thing happened to me but I was clean for a year and I felt terrible when I relapsed, I can't imagine if it had been 5 years
I understand you, I really wish you all the best
