Safety plans

For today's event we are going to talk about safety plans❤️ everyone's safety plan looks different❤️ For today we are going to talk about a 6 step plan I found to be helpful ❤️ feel free to tell us what your safety plan looks like and what you would like to do differently ❤️

1. Identifying triggers these triggers could be anything, any emotion or situation that you know could lead to self harming

2. Internal coping strategies. These strategies are internal strategies meaning these don't require you to contact another person they could be anything that could help you take your mind off of self harming

3. People and social settings that provide distractions. These are people you could talk to or places you can visit to distract yourself

4. People you can ask for help. These are people you trust

5. Professionals or agencies you could contact during crisis. 7 cups has a lot of crisis resources you could turn to❤️ 7 cups listeners are also a good choice to talk to if you want to talk about self harming experience in the past or the urge in itself but it's necessary you turn to our crisis resources if you are actively self harming at the moment

6. Making your environment safe❤️ this means making sure your environment doesn't have anything that you could use to harm yourself you can even get a family member to do it for you❤️
