Request Cancel Button
Hello I don't if this is the right place to leave this message. For the last few days the cancel button for listener requests has disappeared . At the bottom of the screen there is a green stripe that just says Connecting you with a kind human being, no cancel button. Have even tried switching off laptop and starting again and its still their. Until I cancel from one request am unable to make another can anyone help?
Hi @lazyKatzI would like to encourage you to write a support ticket on the bottom of this page with explanation of this issue and to also post it in member suggestion box since what we write in forum often goes unseen and can even get lost.
Thank you for the advice . I'll do that
How can we follow the bug fix progress? is there a link for that or something ?
@lazyKatz,
When you make another connection you will be prompted to cancel the old one, do you see that red button when you make a new connection?
Thank you for the answer but there is no red button,so I'm unable to cancel a request. I don't know if its a software problem. Thanks again for the answer
Have double checked the screen and there is definitely no cancel button to end requests. Making it impossible to try and make contact with another listener. The green strip remains at the bottom of the screen and am unable to remove it or do anything.
No I don't that's why I asked about the bug.
How can we track the bug reporting/fixing process ? Is there a way?
@lazyKatz,
So you don't see this when trying to make a new connection? What internet browser are you using, I think uninstall and reinstall the newest version will help.
We are using Google Chrome-the latest version. It also fails to work in Firefox and Explorer.
@lazyKatz,
That's peculiar, have you contacted the site about this bug? So now you are not able to connect to another listener at all? And when you hit the connect button (to a listener or make a general request), what happens?
The green strip remains at the bottom, saying connecting with the swirly dots going around and stays there until the computer is switched off over night. Switching off for a short period doesn't work as it is still there. We have sent emails to the info at address and one to Laura, who we have emailed in the past.

@lazyKatz,
Sounds like a bug to me. Although it would usually affect more people. And you mentioned shutting down the browser and when you open it is still "connection to a listener"? I hope you get answers from the site soon, friend.
I'm also facing the same issue. I'm using Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Has anyone filed a bug request ?
@TorturedSoulX,
I believe @lazyKatz did. I don't know how it is going for them however, I'll tag their name here in case they have found the solutions. Although I don't have this bug, the site is more laggy recently as well. The technicians would better look into this.
Yes please, so as to follow the progress of the fix if there is a possibility.
If you're not facing this bug, what browser/system are you using ?
I tried talking to Laura about it .
She wrote...Hi Barbara,
I am sorry to hear about this. The request usually times out after 6 minutes. You just have to leave the window and request again!
Thank you for being part of our community. And apologies for the wait time!
Laura
I have three browsers-Google chrome [the latest], Firefox and Explorer. They are all the same with regards to this.
I keep telling people the same thing, but nothing changes and the button is still missing.
I have just replied to Laura..
Hello Laura,
I does not time out. Sometimes it stalls for over 20 minutes or longer. In fact the only way to leave the page is leave the site for a few hours as to try right away [leave site and go back in straight away] doesn't work. It is very frustrating. There is no cancel button and no messages as to what is going on. You can move to another page on the site, but the green strip follows you around.
Regards,
Barbara.
It's definitely a bug that needs to be fixed.
It used to be there I remember.
Waiting for it to time out doesn't make sense, let alone waiting for hours. A lot of times I get into sessions with listeners I don't want because I can't cancel my request which causes embarassment.
I understand what you mean , as it can cause embarrassment, but try as I might, I can't find a way to retify the situation. Will have to live with it until it is sorted.
Had a note from Laura, but all it said was that shouldn't happen and no adice was offered.
No choice but to live with it, until it changes.
@TorturedSoulX,
When you are connected, does the stripe disapear? There is not a way to cancel a request unless you make another. Conecting to a new listener personally in the Browse listener page will cancel your last request and starts a new one.
When you connecto to a listener here. Do you see this?
@lazyKatz,
Laura is a Community manager, she deals with matters concerning the community itself, not technical issues. Have you tried sending a support ticket like Maku says?
Does the stripe disapear after you get connected?
I keep trying to make another request but it comes up saying. "ups you already have requested a listener. To start a new request cancel the last one" No way to cancel first request. Had an e-mail from Laura saying they are working towards changing the request button.
@lazyKatz, okay. I hope that gets fixed soon.
@Seaway,
Yes I see the image you sent, I know how to do it. But it is not a proper way to cancel a request. This will still connect you to another listener with no way to cancel from the new one, except connecting to a newer one, and on and on ...
If my memory serves me well, I remember there was a button to cancel the request on the green stipe at the bottom of the page ?!
I will follow your suggestion to create a support ticket
Your right there should be a button on the green strip butits not their.
@TorturedSoulX, @lazyKatz, there isn't a cancel button. So once you have a connection going on, you have to be connected or wait for it to time out in 6 minutes, I believe.
The cancel button used to come up on the green strip but doesnt any longer however long I wait. I either have to use the chatroomswith the green strip still on the screen saying connecting leave the site . If I do that and return later its still their.
Is this still a thing? Because I'm experiencing the same thing here, and I can't seem to get rid of this weird green stripe.
