CONTINUING TO STAY SAFE ON 7 CUPS

Some Members feel disheartened by the reporting process as they feel 'nothing' is being done. Please know that isn't true! Reviewing your Listener is the most productive way to help us improve our skills. We offer 'coaching moments' when needed based on your reviews. If your review or report is about harassment of any kind, however, those actions result in drastic measures to a Listener such as suspension or even a permanent ban. Those who review reports need to be sure they are making the appropriate call. If there is a claim without proof, sometimes it takes multiple complaints for them to know how serious the situation is.
SO WHAT CAN I DO TO GET ACTION?
If you find yourself in a harassing/sexually harrassing situation, please be ready to back up your claim for the most effective action. The minute you feel uncomfortable with the chat or are asked to do anything not authorized by 7 Cups conduct code, screenshot or copy the messages. Examples of this include requests for phone numbers, offline chats or social media information and inappropriate messages within the chat. You can then block the Listener and paste the screenshot/chat copy into 'Reason for Blocking'. If the Listener blocks you, please email community@7cups.com with the Listener name and your screenshots or copies.
If you fear that taking action may result in further harassment, please contact a Mentor for information and further help.
Please know that 7 Cups strives to keep a safe and supportive environment for both Members and Listeners. We hear your voice! Please trust your instincts and empower yourself and others by reviewing/reporting the few 'bad eggs' here with the evidence.
**I'm open to other suggestions or corrections**
Autumn- Thanks for the info, and the assurance that Reports are followed up on
@AutumnLeigh I think the proof of misconduct ought to be screenshots if at all possible! It's harder to fake or edit an image than messages that are simply copied and pasted. While I understand this isn't always possible, I think they provide much firmer evidence of misconduct and hence the allegation can be dealt with more easily!
@EtaAlpha
I fully agree; screenshots are much easier to understand and more difficult to 'fake'. Thank you for pointing this out! I just wanted to give all options for anyone who may not know how to utilize one method or the other. <3
@EtaAlpha
Nice suggestion.
@AutumnLeigh I agree with your perspective. Thank you for sharing this information with us. I am happy to hear that evaluations are being made and helping listener become better with time. Also, thank you for being a supportive and amazing person :)
I agree with your thoughts. Great information you have share with us. [Content removed by AutumnLeigh for off-site advertising]
@AutumnLeigh thank you, but when you are a member and youve been blocked you cant open the chat eith the listener who blocked you anymore, so you wont be able to take screenshot or copy of the messages.
@SweetBubblegum
I'm so sorry if this is something you've experienced. You can still report that Listener, if you remember their name. If you aren't sure of the correct spelling, you can possibly find them using 'Browse Listeners' and searching by screenname with the closest spelling you remember. Even if you've been blocked, you can 'see' that person. I hope that's of some help to you. Even without a screenshot, your report is important and may be one of multiples. These things are taken seriously by those who take action. I hope this has been of some help. Please be well!
@AutumnLeigh yeah kind of happen to me, thank you. But when the listener blocked a member. A member cannot report them back. Because you cant open the chat with him anymore and report button only appears on chat.
Thank you autumn.
Hi @AutumnLeigh, thank you for the information as a new intern there is so much to take in! Staying safe is so important.
Thank you so, so much for posting this! On a side note, I've relocated this thread to a more specific area in the forum - in the Safety and Knowledge at 7 Cups subcommunity
