September 22nd, 2023
...See more Hello everyone! I would like to take a moment to introduce some additional forum moderation guidelines that we will be implementing to ensure that this community remains a respectful, constructive, and inclusive space for all members. Note: All forum moderation will be handled by the forum moderators or community leaders. 1. Respectful Dialogue: Encourage respectful and open dialogue that allows members to express their feelings and thoughts about religion without targeting specific religious groups. Ensure that discussions maintain a courteous and tolerant tone. 2. Avoid Forced Beliefs: Remove any posts that attempt to impose personal religious beliefs on others or pressure individuals to adopt a particular faith. Our community respects diverse perspectives and choices. 3. No Shaming or Discrimination: Prohibit any posts that involve shaming, discrimination, or derogatory language towards individuals, religious groups, or spiritual beliefs. Promote an inclusive and accepting environment. 4. Focus on Personal Experiences: Encourage members to share their personal experiences and insights related to spirituality and religion, emphasizing the impact on their lives rather than making sweeping judgments or condemnations. Moderate with Sensitivity: Exercise moderation with a sensitive and understanding approach. When removing posts, provide a clear explanation to the member and offer guidance on how they can rephrase or refocus their discussion in a more constructive manner. 5. Feedback and Appeals: Allow members to provide feedback on moderation decisions through the forum@7cups.com email or messaging the admin, @CheeryMango directly for those who believe their posts were unjustly removed. 6. Consistency: Maintain consistency in applying these guidelines to all posts and members, regardless of their religious or spiritual background. Ensure fairness in moderation. 7. Community Building: Lastly, focus on creating a positive and supportive atmosphere within the religious and spiritual community, where members can freely explore and discuss their beliefs and feelings without fear of judgment or disrespect. ------------------------- tagging the community taglist to be updated: @MeaningfulSilence @AffyAvo @Sunisshiningandsoareyou @tommy @theriverissinging @@Adamw12 @adripika @amiablePeace77 @Armon23 @beck1 @blindCupcake8608 @Carolincares7 @Chevy81 @courageousRiver589 @DivineLove04 @DragonView2 @easyDime4319 @egrima729 @goodAcres5039 @GoodEar1972 @Helgafy @HisLivingWaters @IamAubrey23 @ivoryDog4942 @Jaeteuk @Jenna @LoveMyMoonflowers @loyalApricot1375 @lyricalAngel70 @magnificentNutella @Mahad2804 @MalindaBelle @MeaningfulSilence @Michele2 @officialanonymous @ovowoody @passionateSea1909 @persistentFriend274 @philosophical2741 @pineapplepeanut @PoliteOcean @politePeach9642 @rhodawoolf @RogueOne1983 @SammiSweetheart30 @soulsings @stallion3 @SunShineAlwaysGrateful @Swordpsalm @ThatChristLover @TheJenInBlack @tommy @trueconfidant123 @Tulipsmile @Tyedyedbutterfly65 @yaswecan7
When you get a reminder that things are going your way🌷

...See more May the peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you. alsalam ealaykum warahmat allah wabarakatuh.  I hope you are all well and healthy. Honestly, a very beautiful situation happened to me and I wanted to share this, perhaps it could be an incentive or a reminder, or I don’t know how to describe it more. Well, to make a long story short, I had something I wanted so badly and was so excited about it that I made all the preparations and things I needed for it, but unfortunately it didn't happen, and let's just say it was a complete failure. Because of this, I felt really sad, to be honest, and I felt suffocated and anxious during the day. During prayer time, I went to pray, and then I started reading the Holy Quran. Glory be to Allah, the first verse I started reading was: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. {But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. Allah knows, while you do not know.} [Al-Baqarah: 216]. Allah's words are true. And literally I felt that it was a message to me and I felt a warmth filling my heart and my eyes started to tear up. I felt that it was a reminder to me not to forget that if God saw that this thing was good for me, it would have happened and I cannot see this and that everything that happens to us has a divine wisdom that we do not know. The good deeds that souls hate because of the hardship they entail are undoubtedly good, and the evil deeds that souls love because of the comfort and pleasure they imagine they bring are undoubtedly evil. As for the conditions of this world, the matter is not constant, but what is most prevalent for the believing servant is that if he loves a matter and God provides him with the means to divert him from it, it is better for him. So it is more appropriate for him to thank God and believe in the good in reality, because he knows that God Almighty is more merciful to the servant than he is to himself and more capable of the benefit of His servant than he is. If the servant knows that the disliked may bring about the beloved, and the beloved may bring about the disliked, he will not feel safe that harm will come to him from the side of pleasure, and he will not despair that pleasure will come to him from the side of harm, because he does not know the consequences. God knows of them what the servant does not know. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Update.. Trauma.. Going through a hard time

...See more I have been reading Qur'an and making Dua 5 times a day. I have a lot of good friends now that are Muslim. With events in the world though, myself and my friends have been getting threats of violence towards us and a lot of violent pictures and videos being thrown at us. It is really traumatic as someone with C-PTSD. I live in a really bad part of the world that is not accepting at all of Muslims.. If I ever chose to wear hijab I would be shot if I went in public. I am sorry to come out with all this on forums... I recently tried to reach out to a Listener but they tried to tell me to "look at what the bad part of the religion is" as a warning.. that killed me because I am already fearful of retaliation. I already have C-PTSD and a Panic Disorder + Agoraphobia..  I can't talk to my therapist either, she is conservative Christian (where I live.. they are.. once again not kind to Muslims). So I feel very trapped. I am disabled so I don't have the ability to search down a counselor that is friendly to Muslims as I only have Medicaid and Medicare.  I am not letting all this discourage me, it is just quite traumatizing.. I see now what kind of hatred people face in the world even more than I already did.. Every religion EVER has had bad things about it that have happened as a result of politics being mixed in with religion to further a political agenda.. I could really go off on this subject but I really don't want to trigger anyone anymore than I have. What I did realize is Islam is a religion of love, respect, kindness, compassion. People who are horrible to people because of their beliefs .... that's not okay at all. These bullies / trolls and others who push horrible stuff against the Muslim community do so so so much damage. I can't even trust anyone as a Listener now because I don't know at what point they'll start trying to "convert me" or say horrible things..
Eid Al Adha Mubarak 2024

...See more As-salamu alaykum, I hope you all are doing well and making the most of these blessed days. It is the second Eid celebrated by Muslims, and it is called Eid Al Adha. This Eid is on the 10th day of Dul Hijh (It's a month in the Islamic calendar which is a lunar calendar). It’s exact date is dependant on the sighting of the moon so it is on Sunday in some countries and on Monday in other countries. The Eid lasts for 3 days!    Eid is essentially a celebration, Muslims celebrate with food, wear their best clothes, and sacrifice an animal to share with the needy, loved ones, and themselves (this applies to those who can afford it). At the same time, some undertake Hajj, a yearly journey to Mecca (Saudi Arabia) mandatory for all Muslims once in a lifetime, who can afford it and are physically capable of completing it. More info can be found here.  [https://www.islamic-relief.org.uk/resources/knowledge-base/five-pillars-of-islam/hajj/] Usually, you will find much diversity in how Muslims dress up, what food they consume, and how they celebrate eid. But common factors remain, good food, the best clothes, and meeting friends/family if they are close.  Even if you do not celebrate, you can wish your Muslim friends or community users ‘Eid Mubarak’ On this Eid, let us be mindful of the people far away from their families and include them in our celebrations if possible. Keep those who are struggling in your prayers and help the needy ones around you if you can, for Eid is for everyone! Those who are celebrating Eid, what are you looking forward to the most? Note: We have the Religion sub-community now, so anyone interested is welcome to create posts related to Eid, the day of Arafah, and the various ways to make the most of these days here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/religion].
Eid Al Fitr Mubarak 2024

...See more As Salamu Alaikum [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/As-salamu_alaykum], I hope you are doing well. It feels like a few days ago when I wished you all Ramadan Mubarak [https://www.7cups.com/forum/religion/Islam_2609/RamadanMubarak2024_325330/]! Here we are at the end of this month now preparing for Eid. Such is the speed of life! I hope you were able to do all that you set out to do this month. As we say goodbye to Ramadan, it is time to welcome Eid al-Fitr. It is one of the major celebrations for Muslims. The three-day festival celebrates the completion of the fasting month of Ramadan by Muslims across the world. Usually, the first day is the most celebrated. Eid al-Fitr follows Ramadan when the new moon is sighted. Ramadan can last 29 or 30 days. You can read more here. [https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/4/7/when-is-eid-al-fitr-2024-and-how-is-it-celebrated] Eid is either tomorrow for some countries and the day after tomorrow for others (countries usually differ a day).  What happens on Eid al Fitr? * Before the Eid prayer, Muslims worldwide give a form of charity called Zakat-al-Fitr, it is to be given as food to the needy. Read more on that here. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zakat_al-Fitr]  * Women apply Henna/Mehandi the night or two before Eid.  * New clothes or the best clothes available are worn by Muslims * A special prayer is offered called the Eid prayer early in the morning. Muslims usually offer it after wearing their best clothes. It is in a congregation, typically held at mosques and other big available places.  * People meet their families, and exchange gifts and the children often get Eidi which is cash from the adults. It is usually the highlight of the day for the children, counting the money they got! Do note, that Eid does not look the same for everyone! Some people can not afford new clothes, others are living far away from family, some maybe sick or dealing with a loss. If this Eid is a challenging one for you, 7 Cups is here for you! Do reach out to a listener for support here.  [https://www.7cups.com/BrowseListeners/?badge=0&find=&sort=&category=&ageGroup=&listType=&gender=&religion=&country=&language=&verifiedlistener=on] Do you wish to make Eid-related posts? You can post in the Islam space of this sub-community.  [https://www.7cups.com/forum/religion/Islam_2609/] If you are not a Muslim, you are still welcome to wish Muslims Eid Mubarak, you of course don’t have to if you wish not to but feel free to if you want to!  To all those celebrating * What are you most looking forward to on Eid? * Share one fond Eid memory with us!

...See more Assalam-u-Alaikum Warahmat-ul-laahi wa-barakaatuh (May peace and blessings and mercy be upon you) It is truly an amazing step that @GlenM and the team have taken to provide people of religious and spiritual beliefs with a place to come together and connect freely on this site. I also understand that it's a very sensitive topic in most cases and can very quickly lead to debate and conflict. So I humbly request everyone to please be mindful of what you say. Treat others with the same respect that you would like for yourself. Remember that when you engage with someone on any matter, you are representing your side of the discussion and the entire community that goes with it (your religion in this case). With that out of the way, I would like to open up the discussion for Islam here. I have seen many of my Muslim brothers and sisters in this 7 Cups community as well as people who may not be Muslim but have questions about or an interest in Islam. And I think this is a great place for having such discussions. In the spirit of making this community a more inclusive environment and alleviating Islamophobia, I urge you to ask questions. I can't promise you I'll have an answer to every question but I'll give it my best shot. And on that note, I'll leave you with a few verses from the Quran (our Holy Book) that really help me if my faith starts to waver in the midst of a hard time. (Recitation down below as well) Surah Ad-Dhuha (The Morning Hours) [https://www.quranwbw.com/93] بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful وَٱلضُّحَىٰ [I swear] By the morning brightness (93:01) And [by] the night when it covers with darkness (93:02) Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor has he become displeased (93:03) Surely the Hereafter is much better for you than the present life (93:04) And your Lord will give you so much that you will be pleased (93:05) Did He not find you an orphan, and give you shelter (93:06) And He found you lost and guided you (93:07) And He found you in need so He made you self-sufficient (93:08) So as for the orphan do not oppress him (93:09) And as for the beggar, do not repel him (93:10) But as for the favor of your Lord, do talk (93:11)

May these duas bring us closer to Allah, grant us peace, and fulfill our needs. Ramadan Mubarak!

...See more As-salamu alaykum! I hope everyone is doing well. I am writing this post to wish Ramadan Mubarak to all Muslims in our community. The post is also a chance to wish each other and share your happiness with fellow Muslims on 7 Cups.  Ramadan is the name of an Islamic month. It started today for some countries and it will start tomorrow for others. For Muslims it is a month dedicated to fasting from sunrise to sunset every day of the month (there are exemptions for certain people based on things like health, travel, etc), added focus on worship, and a greater effort towards adhering to one’s religious teachings. Fasting involves no water and no food but additionally Muslims also often try to make an additional effort to stay away from anything disliked or prohibited in the religion such as telling lies or speaking rudely to someone and do more of the liked things such as giving charity. For Muslims, it is a month of great importance. Once the month ends, it is followed by a celebration called ‘Eid-al’Fitr’.  I am happy to highlight that his time around we have a space dedicated to the religion Islam in our ‘Religion & Spirituality’ sub-community. You can access the Islamic Sub-forum/space through this link. [https://www.7cups.com/forum/religion/Islam_2609/]This post is being made in the same space! You can use the space to share your excitement for the month, the plans you have and support fellow Muslims in their goals and plans.  Ramadan Mubarak everyone!  For Muslims, what does the month mean to you? 🌙Islam Sub-forum Link [https://www.7cups.com/forum/religion/Islam_2609/]

May this Ramadan bring peace to your heart, clarity to your mind, and joy to your home. Let us celebrate the spirit of togetherness, sharing the blessings bestowed upon us, and extend our hands in kindness and support to all those around us. ...See more Ramadam starts in a couple weeks if google search is correct. It is a religious holiday that I know only bits and pieces about like refraining from food and water during the day.  * How do you celebrate Ramadan? * What kind of foods do you eat to break the fast? ...See more Spirituality is an innate part of our human nature, it's the food of the soul, just like the body has it's own food to function and be healthy, so does the soul. Imbalance between the food of the body and soul results in an internal dissatisfaction and an unpleasant feelings within, despite having the body in a healthy condition in terms of healthy eating habits and physical exercise. Maintaining a sense of spiritual-fulfillment is important because it improves the overall quality of life, it gives one assurance, satisfaction and peace in the face of life's hardest trials. It does not necessarily eliminate struggles, but rather make them bearable, and somewhat enjoyable at times, that is because you connect to a higher being that strengthens you in ways we often cannot perceive, divine ways. Losing connection to our spirituality is something most of us can sense from within, it's a feeling of internal emptiness, something feels off despite that things are going well, like a deep void within slowly spreading in your soul. Common suggested ways to improve spirituality are yoga, meditation, astrology practices, self-reflection, journaling, and so on. Continue reading to gain new ideas on how to achieve spiritual-fulfillment from an Islamic perspective... ------------------------- One of the duties of a Muslim is prayer. A daily prayer practiced 5 times a day, which takes few minutes to complete, in which one praises and glorifies God, recites the Quran, the speech of God, bows down and prostrates. This simple act of worship brings an immense sense of spiritual-fulfillment and sense of peace, that is because one connects to God, establishes a relationship with the divine, to show gratitude and praise for all the blessings one has in their life, to stand before God, forgetting about all the worries and concerns of life and it's mundane gains, it is just you and God, no one else, it's a unique bond where if practiced correctly, it can benefit you in many ways. God says in the Quran (those who believe and whose hearts find comfort in the remembrance of Allah. Surely in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find comfort.) The only true way to attain comfort of the heart and rest of the soul, is through the remembrance of God, through prayer and connecting to God, all else is false. (But whoever turns away from My Reminder will certainly have a miserable life.) A miserable life as in a spiritual-discomfort, anxiety and tiresome thoughts, especially during hardships, despite having all the mundane pleasures of life. (Whoever does good, whether male or female, and is a believer, We will surely bless them with a good life, and We will certainly reward them according to the best of their deeds.) God promised whomever believes in God's oneness, accept his path and does good, a good life, consisting of internal content, peace of mind, feelings of joy and assurance, rest of the soul, even if they had little materialistic gains, the blessing of God will rain over them, and spiritual-manifestation will take place in reality. ------------------------- After having a toxic lifestyle, defined by pleasure-based habits, engaging in destructive desires, and a daily routine of spiritual-bankruptcy devoid of anything divine or pure, this led me to firmly believe in what stated earlier. I've had numerous experiences where I'd feel a deep sense of divine euphoria runs through my entire body, numbing the pain, the anxiety, the hunger & thirst, the physical-exhaustion and mental-fatigue, all would slowly fade away in an astonishing manner, simply though establishing prayer and connecting to God.   -------------------------
