I know the local newspapers where I live often have announcement for parents to meet on certain days. They'll get together for breakfast or even lunch. Even the library might have gatherings like this. I know the one in my area offers small classes for a bunch of different things or there are book clubs. That might be a nice way to meet people and get to know them and hopefully make some new friends. You could see if the site meetup has anything in your area
