Friend problems

Last night, my best friend told me he was really struggling and thinking about self-harming again, and the only thing he's said to me today was asking me to leave him alone. I'm terrified that he's in danger, but also I can't help but feel mad at him for putting me through this. I didn't sleep last night because I was so worried. I want to be helpful but I'm worried that he won't let me help or that my own emotions will get in the way. What should I do?

@aadalet don't push him though. Just be there for him, do things together. Slide in some humor, laugh together, tell your stories, ask him his, apart from that one thing he's struggling with, rather ask him what is going on in his life, like the simple things. Gain his trust, and when you feel like he's getting more comfortable with you, try to slowly make him talk. Maybe at this point he feels as if there's nothing or no one who can save him. Let him realize that there are still good things in life for him. Put yourself in his shoes, what you'd want your best friend to do if you felt like he does.
