Wife just cannot stop drinking
At risk of losing our entire situation because of my wife's drinking. We have two small children and own a small home. She is out of work on temporary disability in an out patient rehab program and js still struggling.
I'm hoping as the holidays pass it will improve but I'm still terrified most of the time.

Oh, I'm sorry you are in this situation! It sounds very stressful to be afraid of losing everything. A home is so important. Particularly when you have small children. And you likely feel quite helpless in doing something about it, because so much is in the hands of your wife.
Well done for recognising that you are terrified. That would be very understandable. But not many people would be able to admit to it.
Have you heard of al-anon? It's like AA, but for the families and friends of alcoholics. I've found them a huge support. There's some things I disagree on, but you can just ignore those and take what's helpful. If nothing else, it's good to vent to someone who's been there and understands.
I've also found the people here on the alcohol and drug addiction forum really supportive.
Unfortunately, alcohol addiction is so common you are most definitely not alone in this. Please keep reaching out for help. You don't have to deal with this on your own.

I wonder how would you feel being cautiously optimistic? Many addicted people never come to a conclusion the problem exists at all. Some of them are never trying any therapy despite the fact they see what's going on. There is hope. Your wife may stumble and fall, but when she loves you and your children, that can be a large source of motivation for her. My female friend is sober for 19 years now. The thing is to learn how to go through the bigger and smaller problems of a human life without the need to sink it in a drink.
Yes, I agree checking Al-Anon group might be a good idea, but I don't know how it is in your country - in mine 90 to 99 per cent of the members are women. So if you preferred male company and wanted to understand the monster your wife is fighting against better, you might also visit open AA meetings. Anything that could be good for you by not feeling left behind and alone.
