Confusing times
my boyfriend doesn’t communicate his feelings at all but always wants me too but if I try and find out his he pushes me away and I’m confused if it’s something to do with me or if he just doesn’t want to talk about it

Without a full picture of him, it is hard to tell what is going on, besides his struggle. But a fellow man whonhad similar problems in the past and based on the most common talks about the topic, the most common case is that... He was hurt at certain point in life and this looks like a defense mechanism.
But again, hard to tell without more details.
He’s had many friends end things while he was young and a lot of girls before me refused his asking out I’m his first gf and what not so I’m not really sure

Not usually is about romantic relationships if the case is that he feels hurt... But the break of confidence with him and ppl using something he told against him somehow.
But again, pure empiric coment without any basis.
sometimes people behave as dismissive avoidants when they just weren’t taught how to deal with emotions when they were young. Which makes them seek vulnerability and connection but it overwhelms them so they push it away cause their feeling overwhelms them as well as other people’s feelings. It’s just one theory that might or might not be true to your situation: ) just look into attachment styles.
