Not simply seeing you as a piece of entertainment, not simply waiting for you to stop talking, not canceling everything at the last moment via not showing up or not replying, not saying they'll do something but fail to keep their word, etc

To me, a good friend checks up on you to see if you are okay, they hang out with you when they can,they are honest,trustworthy,loyal,they will communicate with you like they won't wait for you to start the converstation they will do their part of the friendship. They will actively take care of the friendship like they taking care of a plant.
