I Can

independentPlace3911 May 8th, 2020

He was my soulmate. We had so much fun together. I think when the pandemic started I got somewhat needy and maybe too demanding. I was genuinely worried and still am. He broke up with me 30 days ago. We have had 3 brief interactions since then. It feels like he has moved on. I know that I should too but he told me we would be together forever. He always said all the right things. I am devastated. Does anyone have any advice for me?

@independentPlace3911 Have you told him that you realize what your mistake was? Have you reached out and let him know you'd like to try to reconcile?

@prettyPomegranate Yes, actually I have. And Monday I sent a sincere, heartfelt apology because I know that I am 50% of our issues. It isn't all him. I also said that I am seeking help. As he has himself had therapy, I thought he would appreciate that. He hasn't replied to my message. I am now very distraught.

@independentPlace3911 I'm sorry. It hurts when there's no reply. You can forgive yourself. It's ok to not get it right all the time.

@independentPlace3911 It's hard to move on from someone when you expected to spend your lives together and made so many promises. Breaking up can mean changing your whole perception of your future which is really hard to do, especially when the situation is still fresh after only a month.

It's alright to let yourself grieve and do what you can to help comfort yourself. Venting to friends, talking to counselors, writing here, and journaling about your feelings are all helpful options. What's important to remember is that you're deserving of love even if he moved on and your life is so much larger than just this one relationship. You have so much potential to build yourself up and heal... Please be kind to yourself even if you feel like he isn't by moving on too quickly.

You're eventually going to be okay, most things aren't permanent and that's both good and bad. The pain won't be permanent either, eventually time will heal as cliche as this is and you never know what the future brings. Maybe you'll make up, maybe you'll meet someone better for you... Who knows, what's important is you take care of yourself and remember the future is still full of many opportunities and the world is bigger than it feels like.

I wish you well, sending love!
