THISTLES AND THORNS BubblegumPuppy68
There once was a seed that was given to this man and his wife. The seed was given to them to plant with the expectations of a huge harvest late spring. This husband and wife team did not have a clue as to how they were to accomplish this feat. So early one cool morn they went to their field and began to scratch the top of the soil. They were not farmers, but they said to themselves how hard can this be?So they grabbed the seed in hand and laid it on the topsoil and commenced to cover the seed with dirt. Some days they would think about watering the seed and other days they just did not feel like being bothered. When they arose a few weeks later they noticed that weeds had surrounded the plant but it had begun to sprout up from the ground. They both smiled and said I knew this could not have been too hard and they walked away knowing they would have a harvest real soon.
So they left the plant alone saying let nature take its course. Little did they realize that beneath the soil the weeds had begun to wrap themselves around the roots of that plant and had begun to choke it out. Rocks and thorns and stony grounds had begun to kill off the little plant. I was that plant, so straight and firm still sprouting amongst the Thistles and Thornes.
WHAT'S GROWING IN YOUR GARDEN?
@bubblegumPuppy68
What is growing in my garden? The desire to be an achiever. I want to soar to the highest mountain, I want to soar like an eagle to highs untold.
I want to be the life of the party, that person that makes the world take notice. With head held high and a spring in my stride, I rise. I want to live the rest of my life having no regrets. Yet a woman of valor. Let it be said Honor and Truth walked by her side.
These are the seeds I desire. I"ll not assume that my work will be easy as I till this land. Rocks and Thistles seated in the ground waiting and watching and overestimating. The Lady in waiting is in training no complaining nothing to gain.
I rise, I soar, for my desire is to climb the highest mountain. There is no victory amongst the thistles and thorns

@bubblegumPuppy68 Hey! How wonderful for you to find this thread and give it new life, just like watering a little seed!
I will add some thoughts for you. I love your story, it shows so many of human flaws and also the positive way that we can all grow and move on from adversity.
I do a lot of gardening, I used to grow vegetables (or try to!) But I was beaten up by slugs that seemed to devour everything they saw, ruining the delicate young seedlings and taking huge bites out of the adult plants. So this year I decided to change everything. I started to grow flowers, beautiful flowers, and let my grass grow without cutting it at all, and now I have a garden full of birds and bees!

Thanks, I had sort of gotten away from my listener thread because I felt so out of place trying to be a Listener. Thoughts of the Therapist telling me I did not need to be a Listener because my normal thinking was messed up. I took her words to heart and withdrew myself from this area. I figured she is an expert in her field and knows what she was saying. Constantly reminding me of her 15 years of training. She did not know is the scar she left in my heart and the lack of confidence that it left me with. But I am choosing to pull myself up and try to slowly retry to gain my confidence back and become an awesome Listener.
@bubblegumPuppy68 I am glad that you are! Feel free to pm me and I would love to support you in your listening journey if you would like? https://www.7cups.com/@MistyMagic

@bubblegumPuppy68 The title 'thistles and thorns' I have lots of beautiful purple thistles growing in my garden for the bees as they love them and feed on the nectar deep in the purple heads. Today they seeded and now I have thousands of thistle seeds all over my garden lol!

One can find beauty amongst the thistles and thorns of life
Beauty is in the eyes of its beholder. Some consider the Thistles to be weeds that should be plucked up by the roots and then there are those who find beauty in what seems appalling to others, no matter how we view this so called weed it has plenty of uses as Misty has stated. The bees love to feast on the nectar for this gives them pleasure and a source of food.
Life is just like the Thistles and thorns. The sweet and the bitter. It depends on how one views it. My hardest lessons in life have been built upon the principal of these Thistles and Thorns. When I gaze upon my beautiful rose garden, I see such beauty all the varieties of colors, So many compliments on their beauty. But as I cultivate my rose garden, I get my fingers pricked by the thorns they produce. It makes me think of a passage in the Bible where Paul is praying to God to remove the thorn in his side. God replies to him "MY Grace is Sufficient"
The Thorns are representation of all the bad the terrible things we encountered throughout our journey here on earth. With fingers sore and band-aids we wrap the pain away. Striving to remember how beautiful the garden is, but what a price to pay. Yet the price is right to behold such beauty. I am that rose with stems of thorns amongst the thistles I strive.
Finding Peace on Stormy Seas
Often times while sailing along the coast of life, I have seen so much and the experiences have been life-changing. Sometimes the waters were calm and the serenity and peace I experienced were awesome. At other times the skies were gray and the waters rocked and reeled and bashed against the sides of my boat, Tossing me to and fro as I held fast to the wheel. The turbulence was fierce.I braced myself and battled the storm, till alas the storm gave way to a peaceful sea.
This is how life can be but we just have to stay strong and take charge of our ship.
@bubblegumPuppy68
Well, I got tossed about by a huge storm, but I am back again. Never to give up and never lose all hope😊
@bubblegumPuppy68 Great to hear from you again! I can imagine a small boat on a huge sea, now finding a safe port once again?
