Writing issue

I love writing... but I'm not consistent. I write in every few days or weeks or even months depending on Idk... maybe mood. But I really wanna be consistent with writing and complete at-least a book in this month, but I don't wanna make it as a targeted goal in this short period of time since it's going to be burden and not fun. I may not brainstorm as much as I would if I was doing it at peace. I believe writing shouldn't be forced upon. However, the problem here isn't that I'm not writing everyday. The challenge is that I write but not just a book or essay or article, I dabble in a bit of everything, leaving it for the next time without continuing. So technically, I'm working on 3 books (3 because i'm serious about these 3 for now). I've completed the introduction and chapter 1 in one book, I'm currently in chapter 4 for the next one, and for the third, I've outlined the chapters, named them, and provided a bit of introduction to each.

I could rush it, but I know I've to be patient with my writing. Nevertheless, i'll at least try to be a bit quicker so that I could complete this 3 book this year as a part of my birthday resolution.

(I was also contemplating creating a separate thread for my birthday resolution so that I can check on it whenever I want or on my next birthday in order to reflect on myself.)

@TareqRafiqul

In Nepal, you often hear a lot of horror stories, which may or may not be true. I'll share an incident told by a friend of mine. It was late at night, and typically, there aren't not many lights around (even street lights in many places). She was riding her scooter when she spotted a lady in a white dress on the road, and it sent shivers down her spine. As she continued, She started hearing someone calling her name and asking for help. Terrified, she didn't even dare to turn her back. It is said that if you look back when spirits or ghosts call your name, they're more likely to follow you everywhere.

Also, there's interesting beliefs about witches in Nepal, which you might find intriguing (witch stories are usually quite fascinating). Let's say I'm a witch and i've a daughter in law who's pregnant. She gaves birth to her child and she's in her post-maternal phrase. Now, according to lore, if I want to pass on my knowledge to her, I'll do it by simply chanting spells into her ears. During this process, she's essentially in an unconscious state. If she successfully learns these spells, she would become a witch as well; otherwise the belief is that she might end up mentally damaged. So, according to this belief, to become a witch, you need another witch to teach you all the spells while you're in an unconscious state.

@pandanfe I think you need to make one of the books your main focus and set writting goals for it for each week or month depending on how long it is. The goals are more motivating and it may make it feel like a chore at times, but if you really enjoy it, the feeling will pass once you get started and it will be worth it in the long run. You don't have to stop working on other things either, you just won't worry about how much you get done in those because that's overwhelming to have so many main focuses.

@RidireAmethyst

Thank you for your reply. I agree to what you're saying, but it's not like I think of the other book when i'm writing this one book. It's just I write the book according to how I'm feeling at the moment and it's easier with brainstorming. So the 3 books are of totally different genre. I'm not going to write any more books this year or at least till I complete all the 3 books.

But as you said, i'll try to keep a specific goal towards a major focus at specific time cause I know it's going to be a lot helpful.

@pandanfe I can be the same way with my writing. I hate having multiple projects but it happens. It sometimes helps to have a schedule of sorts. "On Writing" by Stephen King is great on tips for effective writing. And his description of his routine is helpful. It's nice to know even the famous writers sometimes have multiple projects going on. The famous Donna Tart only writes a few sentences a day. Several authors I've studied seem to focus on 3 pages fully edited a day. If you do something daily for nearly a month it becomes a habit. But I agree with you on not forcing it. Not much good comes from that. I hope you find the solution you're looking for.

Thank you for taking time to write in. It means a lot. Having multiple project at the same time is good with creativity, but it takes time to complete even a single book. I just wanted to complete a single book quickly, but i don't wanna hurry now. I'll take my time with the writings 😊 And thank you for the suggestion about the book "On Writing" by Stephen King, i'll check it out whenever I'm able to do so.

Hello I don't know if getting enough detail is hard for you or anyone who is on here, but I recently found a website(also its an app but you dont have to get it on the app. I dont have the app. Just the website bookmarked). It's called "thestoryshack" @ https://thestoryshack.com/

when you got to the website there is a main page with a bunch of link-button things.

If you click on writing practice then it will give you some things to add in. You have to click on the ones that don't have a bullseye if you did them or don't want too. A lot of the prompts are annoying but some of them are good. It's worth trying if you need to add detail or make something longer.
