The Sun and The Moon
"The tale of how the Moon and the Sun loved each other until one of them forget loves worth."
"The sun had many friends. She is beloved by all. Everyone rises with her and cherishes her presence. They bask in her light and want to be around her. She's the light of every life."
"The Moon had very few friends. People leave once he arrives. He doesn't shine as bright. Nobody basks in his faded light and he is not capable of giving life."
"The Moon was jealous of the Sun. Everyone loves her, but despite his own efforts to be like her, nobody loves him. It was a pain to rise every night. He wished he didn't have to compete with someone as great as the sun herself, because even if he wouldn't admit it. He loved her, too."
"One day. The Moon didn't rise. Too pained and hurt by the sun's beauty, he abandoned his job in order to heal from his burn wounds."
"The Sun got worried. She adores the Moon. Many see him as a pathetic little man, but she knows he's so much more than that. He's everything and nothing at once. She feels unbalanced without him there and is afraid he'll never come back. So she too, abandoned her job to go look for her Moon."
"The World around them was close to collapsing. Without the Moon and Sun, everything was chaos. Everyone was panicking, because it was neither bright nor dark."
"The Sun settled next to the Moon as soon as she found him, asking him with a voice as softly woven as the sunlights themselves why he's here. He told her everything, said how jealous he is, and how hurt he feels. That he burned himself on jealousy. And in the end, he tells her that he loves her too deeply."
"The Sun laughs heartedly and the Moon shrugs in on himself, thinking how she'll laugh at him now for thinking he is entitled to loving someone as perfect as her."
"She did laugh, but not out of mock. She cups his cheek and makes him look. Makes him see how they can't exist without each other. How the world is crumbling because they are missing. She tells him that the world needs the Moon too, because just the sun isn't good for much."
"In the end, she says she needs him too. The cycle of day and night requires two people, she says. She admits to feeling jealous, too. Seeing the world basked in such an angelic white light, she can't help but feel a little jealous of the beauty that only the Moon makes."
"The Moon tears up, crying heavily as he listens to the Sun's words. He can't help himself. How can she feel jealous of him?"
"The Sun wipes the tears away, placing a kiss at the corner of his eyes and explains to him, that she, too, loves him deeply."
"The Moon would've said he doesn't believe her, but one look in her serene and wide eyes, and he knew that she did not lie one bit. But we will never be together, the Moon says, thinking of their jobs. The cycle they have to follow."
"The Sun sighs quietly and nods, explaining that their duty is important, but insisting that that doesn't have to be the end."
"The Moon looks at her through hopeful eyes and the Sun embraces him tightly. That's the day, humanity saw their very first eclipse."
"The Sun promises the Moon that every year she would give him part of her day for the eclipse to happen. It wouldn't ruin their duty and they'd finally be together."
"However, they soon realized how much energy an eclipse costs and that the Moon can not do this every year. He's already weak when he grows smaller during the phases. The Sun shushes her worried lover and says that then, they'll do it every ten years."
"Ten years turn into a hundred. A hundred years turn into a thousand. A thousand years turn into a hundred thousand. The Sun can't recall when the last eclipse was, but she knows her Moon is there with her and that he'll never leave her side even if they're not really together."
