[ON HIATUS] Want to become a social soldier? Find out how here!

ArwaS January 15th, 2019

THIS TEAM IS CURRENTLY ON HIATUS. CHECK OUT THE ANNOUNCEMENT HERE.

Welcome everyone to the Social Soldiers subforum! We are very happy to have you here with us! This subforum will be a place to find updates on the project, as well as the cohort dates and events/challenges!

Why the Social Soldiers project?
Well, Im glad you asked! Cadence and Laura awesome responses describe it perfectly
‘The Social Soldiers project was created with the intent on eliminating the stigma that comes along with mental illness on social media, guiding those who are depressed/having a hard time/need someone to talk to right here to 7CupsOfTea.
‘Our goal is to combat mental health stigma by going out and finding those who need us the most and bringing them to our safe haven. In accomplishing this goal, we will simultaneously combat stigma head on and take a stance that it is not only okay to get support when you need it, its a healthy and wonderful thing to do for yourself!

What are Social Soldiers?
Social Soldiers are awesome individuals who spread the word of 7 Cups and guide people to the right support, on 7cups social media. We use our referral links when referring people to the site. Their purpose is not just to refer people to 7 Cups where they can get someone to talk to them that truly cares, but to spread the message of 7 Cups. As of right now, we use Twitter and Tumblr, we search through hashtags relating to 7 Cups and mental health to look for people in need, and respond to them.

Who can be a Social Soldier?
Listeners! Any listener thats interested in using social media to reach out to those in need using kind and empathetic messages should definitely apply for the team.

What isnt a Social Soldier?

Someone who shares their own personal social media with other members or listeners.
Someone who exchanges unauthorized messages with those they are reaching out to.
Someone who has pictures and/or content on their 7 Cups related profiles that could reflect poorly on 7 Cups of Tea or its listeners. Content such as inappropriate pictures, language, lyrics, links to websites. (ie sexually suggestive, violent, or harmful in any way.)
Someone who creates unauthorised 7cups related social media.
Someone who does not follow the social soldiers team guidelines

How do I get involved?
Read through this post to understand the process, you can find then read the manuals (Twitter / Tumblr) and the guidelines too.
Then you can apply here for Twitter
for Tumblr.
(Applications open on the
25th of every month!)

Some previously asked questions:
What is a referral Link? Where can I find it?
Referral links are links that you can use to spread 7cups and can be found on your listener dashboard: 7cups.com/listener, it links right back to the 7cups.com but everyone has a unique one. Every time someone uses your link you get a referral click You can track those here https://www.7cups.com/listener/myImpact.php. You can find your personal referral link on the bottom left corner of the progress path on the site, and it can be found on the app by going to the Path screen, pressing on the globe, and then pressing the envelope button on the bottom right corner.

Can we share our referral links on our personal social media?
Yes, you definitely can, but dont share your personal social media handles with people on this site.

I want to join but on a different social media platform, how do I do that?
Right now we are only doing Twitter and Tumblr, but I am always open to trying different platforms if we have enough interest from the community and someone who is willing to help lead that social medias team. If you have one in mind, PM me! We can discuss it, and if its a social media platform that would work, we can do a poll with the community.

Im a member and I want to join the team, how do I do that?
We trialled a member track in the past and it didnt have a great turn out, so members can no longer join the social soldiers' team. However we are putting events into place that allow members to get involved without joining the team, we have done this in the past with the Tumblr Writers club and Twitter takeovers.

I feel more assured after spending time on 7cups. so often I feel like I have not contributed enough, and getting the chance to be a supportive ear to members is very rewarding.

7 cups is my family

7cups has provided me with soo much more insight and training than I thought possible. I have grown soo much emotionally since starting my list we jnr journey and realised a lot about myself as an active listener.

hopefulPerspective1627 May 25th, 2020

7cups has given me soo much more insight into other people's struggles but it is also very inspiring hearing people start off stuck or lost or feeling negatively and then how their outlook changes with a little help from someone listening to them and allowing them to come to their own answers to work through things. I hear of people's resiliance and it just continues to amaze me.

7 Cups has and continues to allow me to not be afraid to use my voice (and to find it in the first place) <3
