A Walk with Glen

October 4th, 2021

A beautiful thought can lead to remarkable manifestations. It all started with a thought in Glen's private world that has blossomed into the huge system called 7cups we have today, and how many dreams, ideas, and visions came to be associated within the framework of cups!

Thank you Glen for thinking of using your talents in contributing to this world. You are a role model for humanity that what a human can inspire through themselves, by just being courageous to explore and live their best inner potentials.

I had an opportunity to have a talk with our Glen, I feel delighted to share with you this talk we had!

Question: What mattered for you the most in your early childhood days?

Glen: My mother was a daycare provider. In the US, that often involves babysitting or watching 6 other children. I had built in friends, so we’d play games, build things, and read together. I wanted to be a forest ranger so I mostly liked being in nature.

Question: What message would you like to leave for the entire earth through your life?

Glen: Love is a skill. You can work at it and become better at it. If we all work together, then we can measurably help one another and make the world a significantly - unimaginably better - place where many more heal and flourish.

Question: It is said that a spirited soul is ever stretching and challenging themselves in making wonderful things come true. What activities in your daily life do you partake in to ensure a steady progress towards your dreams and visions?

Glen: I see life as a sort of river that flows. The river is flowing all around me. I can try to maneuver in the river to go in a direction, but ultimately the river is going to flow where it flows. I deliberately try to influence the things I can influence and accept what I cannot.

I also increasingly try to trust how life unfolds, especially when it doesn’t go in the direction that I thought or hoped it would. I keep my eyes open to be surprised and often find out that it works out better than what my original plan had envisioned.

I also practice a number of daily activities to help me process things and stay oriented to the above. This includes daily exercise, having good conversations with supportive people, thinking, prayer, and writing. And I intermittently fast a couple of days a week to help keep inflammation down. I also make sure I am not in front of my computer or gadgets at least an hour before sleep - I instead normally try to read - so I can get a good night’s rest.

Question: What message do you have today for all the cupsers?

Glen: I count it an honor and huge privilege to be working with all of you. Thank you for helping to make Cups better so we can be more effective in learning and helping one another. You matter to me and you play an integral role on 7 Cups. Every member and every listener counts and we all grow stronger together.

I think we are all going to be pretty blown away by how far we are in 10 years. Thank you for walking with me. I enjoy our conversations and our work together.

Question: You have done and are doing so much for us, and we can never think of repaying the impact your work has had in our lives. Now there is a chain of leaders and this chain continues to grow, and each leader in that chain is doing the kind of work which can never be repaid. But since this chain got initiated with you, we are specially interested to know: Is there anything the cupsers can do for you, to make you happy?

Glen: I give, but I am way more filled up by all of you than I could ever give forward. The love and kindness I receive from all of you fills up all 7 of my cups :) and overflows! I never feel like I have a deficit. I think - somehow and I’m not sure how it works - but giving somehow results in amplified love back. My grandmother said “love always comes back” and I think she was right - only it comes back greater than what was initially given. Our community is a sort of love or compassion amplifier. The act of caring for one another - going the extra mile - seems to be the best thing we can do for one another. Seeing that unfold - and getting to be a part of it - brings me great joy and happiness!

@Fristo @ GlenM

Firstly A Very Warm Greetings to both of you !!

Being a new member things were all new .Had to explore things .Had to ask for guidance .Had to search how is it and what works and what doesn't . Exploring was fun !! Meat many who showered their love ,support , care, knowledge and still are .

The list is long so cant mention the name or else i would love too .

But today after reading your post the only thought what came to my mind was " Wow !! Amazing .... that's because the questions and answer are made so specific to make one understand things so easily and a new person don't have to explore just have to be at this page .that's it ... Journey to Learning starts ...

Thanks to both of you !! Looking forward for more such learning :)
