FYI et. al.: Why was 7 Cups founded?

The founder and CEO, Glen Moriarty, was sitting at his kitchen table talking to his wife about a problem he was having. Her close listening made him feel a lot better, and it occurred to him that he was incredibly lucky.

For one, he is married to a Licensed Counselor. Furthermore, she was available when he needed to talk. Glen realized that many people do not have this same opportunity.

Not everyone has a friend or family member to talk to at all times, nor do they always feel comfortable doing so if they can. The only other real option is therapy, but that can be expensive and carries an unfortunate stigma, plus it involves scheduling. Glen envisioned 7 Cups as a third space to fill the gap in between the two current options.

7 Cups was founded by @GlenM on the 7th of July, in 2013 7 Cups was originally known as 7 _Cups of Tea_ a name derived from _a poem by Lu Tong_. As a community, 7 Cups is all about compassion and support. It embraces anyone and everyone. We love 7 Cups because it has supportedso many people over the past 9 years! The best part about our community is the people herebecause they make this place, what it is. There are so many different sub-communities on 7 Cups, as well as academy programs. We will forever be grateful that 7 Cups was created - if it wasnt, I would never have had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful people and to feel super grateful for supporting them! I haven't been here long enough to fill in any of the blanks but I've read through some of the posts and am happy to know 7 Cups origin now.

As a community, 7 Cups is all about family love. It embraces love and compassion. We love 7 Cups because it has been believed as a lovely family.
