Books- Poetry
Books
The pages fly by,
And so does time.
There they lie,
A tale, a poem or a rhyme.
The ink dances,
On every page.
As I still miss,
Breaking out the cage.
Be it a slayed dragon,
By the knight’s might.
Or a royal wagon,
Awaiting the queen in white.
Tolkien’s lores,
Rowling’s wizards.
Stroker’s gores,
Or Dahl’s laugh hazards.
They’re a sanctuary,
Against loneliness.
And the world’s misery,
Bringing happiness.
But what are ‘they’?
You may ask.
As I say,
They are books behind a mask.
Shout out to all the bibliophiles out there!!
How's this oneeee??

A delightful ode to literature and the fantasy worlds we can escape in through the written word. I liked the rhyming scheme and simple yet effective imagery. The whole piece felt upbeat, bouncy, and fun. Very fitting for an explorer in the realms that novels create in our minds.
Thank you for sharing.
@Athena108 wow! 👏👏👏 your way with words definitely dances on the page ❤ each with a story to tell, masked on the pages of a book, that's a genius thought... Just one problem your poems are making me think!!! Thinking is bad for !y brain😂😂😂😂😂
@Tinywhisper11 Thanks youuu❤❤ I'll try to write more simple poem for you, lol🤣
@Athena108 😂😂😂😂😂😂 thanks ❤😂😂
@Athena108 I love how you personify books as both a sanctuary and a "mask," adding depth to their ability to transport and protect us. The rhythm and rhyme flow effortlessly, and the references to classic authors create a nostalgic charm, linking personal experience to literary tradition. It’s a wonderful tribute to the magic and escape that books provide! The current version of me is proud of the 4-year-old me who loved stories with just as much enthusiasm. Thanks again for the lovely poem! Also, I absolutely love your username, Athena – it’s so fitting!
