Reason For Writing

I used to write a lot, I used to journal, write poems, song lyrics, random thoughts, short stories, etc. Now I barely write captions on social media posts. If I’m being honest with you and myself, I stopped writing because my partner was invading my privacy and reading my journal entries, my random thoughts, things I kept private and using them against me. I felt violated and like my trust was betrayed because what I wrote was sacred to me and was kept away for a reason.

Would you read your significant other’s diary or journal?

@lovliyellobone I'm not a good example. I don't have a significant other, but I do have a best friend and we read each others diary entries and if I find my brother's diary around the house I read it and if my other best friend left her diary around, I would probably read that too (only because I'm desperate to know more about her since she keeps her troubles from me). I think it comes down to boundaries and personal preferences: my friend who shares the diary does so because she wants to and I want to, whereas you didn't want to share and your personal space was invaded. My brother doesn't care if anyone sees his writings, but you obviously do. If my other friend had a diary and found out I read it without her permission, she'd probably be rightfully furious at me, so I understand.

I understand. Something important to you was violated, but I wish you luck to return to it. Maybe post some stuff here? I'd love to read it (with your permission of course!) I think you just need to take back your own power in this. I believe in you.
