My English/Language Arts "Essay"
My English teacher gave my class an argumentative essay about why or why not astronauts should go to space, and I'm kind of lazy and stupid so I wrote a poem about it because I didn't have enough time to write an actual essay because of stuff I've been dealing with, and also I like poetry better. My teacher gave me a 0, but I want to know what someone else thinks of it so I'm posting it here.
When astronauts first went out to space
It was because of race against race
Humans want to know more than they can
In just 80 years of their life, while the Earth has been polluted and ran
And people are getting bored of our home
They want to find somewhere else to roam
And know how the universe works
But others are last, you are first
Earth is the only place we can be
And survive where there is other life that we can see
So we leave it all to AI's
Which were made because in our lives
We're not smart enough to know what's inside
This small planet alone
We can't find another home
So we shouldn't send astronauts out to space
Because we need to see the Earth's face

I’m a big fan of space. But I do see how we can sometimes neglect our own planet. While there is so much to explore ‘out there,’ there is also a lot to explore and take care of here. Lovely poem!💜
@innateJoy9602 I think we neglect our planet a lot. Not just in terms of research but in terms of care in general too. Like so much money going to Mars and stuff when ppl be dying from diseases or dealing with poverty
