Annoyed at slurs
I get that some PoC, specifically some members of the black community are okay with using the N-Word, but I get so annoyed because in my own system of belief it isn't. It's not a good word to reclaim, for a word to be reclaimed it had to have started off as a good word that menat something to us, but it wasn't. It's a word that was and is still being used to day to harm and injure others. And I get so frustrated that when I call someone out weather they are a PoC or not for using the term weather it's in real life or online. I get slandered as being a non PoC and told that I have no buisness correcting anyone and that I should stay in my lane.

I totally agree with you! It's a horrible word that had a terrible meaning throughout the years, but now people use it for their friends! It's up to them but it makes no sense to me to use such a derrogatory term to address friends, but then dislike it if a caucasian says it. There are other words they could use! No-one should make you feel out of place for choosing not to use such a word, especially not here at 7 Cups. Sorry that's happened to you. :\
I agree with you guys but if your not in their world and in the life I believe you can't speak on it, to me it's being told how I should feel without that person really getting to know me or really trying to help . I believe everyone has a reason to what they do and say and to just say its bad you are in disregarding a person reality rather then trying to help and support
Do you think that people would be willing to talk about the power of language in the People of Color community?

@KimsonTheSteveFundYPOC I'm not sure but I think to have a balanced conversation about this you will need to include people from different classes, from poor too middle class and wealthy. I feel like a conversation on language is not just about colour but also about class.
By the way I'm from South Africa so the "N" word our version of is a extremely taboo word , people will hurt you if you say it in public but its only because it's only been 22 years since we the old racist government structure was dismantled so most people of colour in my country have or at least know of a family member who died as a result of the racist system we had so the scares of that are just to fresh but peoples mind sets on what freedom is what should have happened in 1994 are very different because of class. In my country class plays a extremely big role in how we talk about race and the language we when discussing it so this is what brought me to my point of view

I don't like the term "chinky" yet most non-Asians seem to say it freely. They don't realize how hurtful that word is .
I agree with spicyricecake, there's also an "L" slur directed towards Asians and is often used as a joke. That's why I personally feel hurt because my feelings are being cast aside and I'm forced to laugh.
