Partial hospitalization program

cedarlake June 8th, 2017

After I went to the emergency psychiatrist a week and a half ago (😳 I didn't realize it was only that long) they recommended that I try a partial hospital program. 9-3 Monday-Friday for two weeks, intensive treatment including DBT and all sorts of other therapy, with homework. It sounds really good, and I need the treatment. I don't function well for more than 5ish days at a time anymore (maybe not ever?)

a) I just got a full-time job and am scared witless that I will lose it if I try to take off two weeks so soon. Advice?

b) I'm scared witless about the program itself, like it will change my personality altogether and make me a different person. How do I overcome that?

@cedarlake Hi there! Im sorry to hear that you were there! I have done a course on dbt and I can say for myself that it was great and it has changed my view on things. I have not been in patient so i cant really say about that what I have been was in hospital and I didnt really like it! it didnt change who I am. What I can say is that change can be scary but it can also be very good. I like to suggest perhaps talk to your work and ask them if they cant let you take off now if they cant then ask them to tell you when you can and then you can save up for it so when you are out of work you have some money incase you unable to go back. I think the program will be good for you so I say go for it. We are here to support you and please shre if you do end up going and how it went wink
