A call to our community members! Creathing Paths - Compassion & Respect
Thank you for stopping by this thread; we hope you’ve all been keeping well! This thread is designed to shape growth paths with the guidance of your voices and experiences.
A couple weeks ago, a survey was launched to get an idea on what sort of themes you would like to turn into growth paths for self-development and making progress! Amazingly, one of them involved - Compassion & Respect.
In this thread we churn our experiences on Compassion!
I’m keen to hear more from you, diving deeper into this area of life with the sole purpose of shaping our growth path together.
Phenomenal strength arises when there is natural compassion present. So we ask: What is Compassion composed of? In the words of Joan Halifax “Compassion consists of that capacity to see clearly into the nature of suffering. It is that ability to really stand strong and to recognize that I'm not separate from this suffering...we aspire to transform suffering by engaging in activities that do so. Compassion has another essential component, and that is we cannot be attached to the outcome of our efforts.”
A person who is cultivating compassion, when they are in the presence of suffering, they feel that suffering a lot more than many other people do. However, they return to baseline a lot sooner. This is called resilience. Many of us think that compassion drains us, but I promise you it is something that truly enlivens us.
I encourage you to attempt the *Any* of the following reflection questions, and help us cultivate a compassion-oriented growth path!
1- When and how have you built your understanding on compassion? What have you heard, seen, or experienced which has made you think “Aha! Now that’s compassionate!”
2- How have you practiced “Self-Compassion” in your own life?
3- What sort of content do you expect in a Growth Path designed to build compassion and self-compassion?
4- Why do you think we would need self-compassion and compassion for the world?
5- Share links, writers, books, videos, exercises and content you’ve found helpful on compassion. Feel free to drop your thoughts below, let’s brainstorm together on this one.
@Mimi
1- When and how have you built your understanding on compassion? What have you heard, seen, or experienced which has made you think “Aha! Now that’s compassionate!”
I build my compassion based on placing myself into the other person's shoes and see how they felt or how things happened.
2- How have you practiced “Self-Compassion” in your own life?
I forgive myself when making mistakes, do things that I love to do ( reading, crafts, journal writing ), use self care at night to unwind from my day.
3- What sort of content do you expect in a Growth Path designed to build compassion and self-compassion?
To use I a lot, I will work on.... I want to learn ...
4- Why do you think we would need self-compassion and compassion for the world?
