What is OCD?
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder in which time people have recurring, unwanted thoughts, ideas or sensations (obsessions) that make them feel driven to do something repetitively (compulsions).
What are some signs and symptoms of OCD?
Although there are many different signs and symptoms of OCD, heres a list of a few. Disorders of all kinds have different effects on all people, not everyone may experience the same thing. Just something to keep in mind!
The repeated cleaning of one or more items
Repeatedly washing your hands
Constantly checking the stove or door locks
An overwhelming need to align objects "just so"
Following a strict routine
Repeating the same question, word, or phrase
What is the difference between OCD and ADHD?
People with ADHD may grow distracted as a result of restlessness or an inability to pay attention.
People with OCD may seem similarly or identically distracted while engaging in obsessive thinking or specific compulsive rituals.
People with OCD experience obsessive thoughts surrounding order and fears.
People with ADHD often experience symptoms related to hyperactivity, forgetfulness, disorganization, and other symptoms that are different from those presented by OCD.
