Solitary High Altitude Treks
Hi,
Coming from a fear of heights ( which I have conquered albeit slowly ), I always aimed to complete solitary treks in high altitude mountain passes ( which can be as narrow as a few inches wide ). Well, I did complete not one but several treks, ranging from 10,500 feet to 15000 feet. It was tough but not impossible and to add to the challenge I did come across yaks on these solitary treks and it was a revelation to watch the big beasts just jump over to rocky outcrops on these passes almost like trapeze artists, allowing me to pass.
@meaculpa Hi! I moved your thread to the "Proud of myself because" section. Is this okay with you? It seemed fitting and appropriate to me because you managed to accomplish something amazing , DEFINITELY worth feeling proud of! You managed to conquer your fear of heights and even though it took some time and effort, you didn't give up and you kept working consistently, with determination, toward your goal. And you've finally made it, conquered your phobia! :D That is just WOW! That amazes me, greatly!
And you really went above and beyond the expectations you set for yourself as well! ♥ In the face of a challenge, you did not back down :D
This really is a milestone! I wonder how you managed to overcome this phobia, if you would like to share your story ♥
You're A.M.A.Z.I.N.G and really an inspiration <3

Thank you for your valuable encouragement. I do beleive that we should confront our phobias head on and I have tried to live up to my beleifs. My first step to confront the fear of heights was to try parachuting and it resulted in two broken knees, I was 23. Next stop a few years down was to walk over a rickety bamboo bridge which was just a few feet wide ( with no side supports ), dangling over a raging torrent about 30 feet below. I was working as an evangelist then and to top it all I was slinging my bicycle ( about 30 pounds ) as I negotiated the bridge. I was the Team Lead and it would have been a bad precedent for me to chicken out. I still have the butterflies and a slight vertigo when I look down heights but it goes away in an instant.
