Can't Sustain Hobbies For Long

Hello! For some reason it's very hard for me to maintain hobbies long enough to really get good at them, what usually happens is that I find something that I find really interesting or seems like a lot of fun and usually after doing a couple things in that hobby I lose the motivation to continue it.

tried things from exercise to digital art like pixel art and low poly modeling, pencil drawings, writing, woodwork, mail armour and other things.

Does someone have any ideas on what to try or do to help? i'd love to hear them so please message me here in the thread or directly ^-^

@Kraager

(This is specifically for creative work hobbies, but this can be extended to exercise too)

-Post your work to relevant forums on this site.

-Post your work to relevant forums on other sites.

-Join a class.

-Join a club.

-Get your friends or family involved somehow.

-Reach out and collaborate with others.

-Try entering a contest.

-Try setting up a little area to do your hobby in.

-If your current workspace isn't working for you, try another location.

-Try turning it into a little ritual: same time for a short time every day (as much as you can). Prioritize it. Don't just do it because you feel like it- do it even when you DON'T feel like it.

I also struggle to keep up with my hobbies and one thing that I've found is helpful is to kick myself out of the house and into the library or a cafe: I have anxiety and my constant thinking about how other people are perceiving me helps fuel my productivity and keep me on task (like I have to embody a certain functioning human persona) because I cannot relax lol. (also my house is filled with memories of trauma that keep me unproductive)

Music helps, especially if it's a playlist that plays for only a certain amount of time- when the playlist ends, I can choose to stop or continue. It's always the starting that is the hardest.

As for work set up, keep yourself hydrated and comfortable, but not too comfortable. Let the sunlight in. Wear shoes.

Having other people involved helps: like, I find that I am much more motivated to make art if that art is going to be a gift for someone. I am much more motivated to write if it is from another person's prompt or I know that other people will read it. I find that I have more motivation to continue with writing a certain story if someone is willing to sit down and talk about it with me. Involve others!
