Overwhelmed.... Shutting down.... Can't move

IsayUncle October 19th, 2022

To do a chore, task or responsibility when all your options are uninspired and seem hopeless, daunting and pointless can be some of the hardest tasks in the world to do. Even if it is just to take out the trash.

Sometimes the goal needs to be to stop thinking.

I totally get it! I didn't realize my issue was ADHD. I have a grown child and just got diagnosed with a bunch of mental health issues. My whole life I wondered why I just couldn't get myself to do things, especially at home. It's like a switch just turns off. It's not hard, but I feel so blah and even resistant. I feel so alone with these issues. Than you for sharing.

I like what you said about a switch turning off... that's exactly right for me too. Your not alone. If you want motivate or share, I'll listen.

My mind whirs and whirs until it tires me out enough not to accomplish a lot.

Loosen car wheels and jack one side up.

I looked up energy foods... Here's the share.

@IsayUncle

I would sort of disagree with this, apologies for that. You cannot stop thinking whether you want it or not, you can distract yourself from the things and think about something else. The goal should be not to think about something for a very long time and instead of focusing your thinking to something productive and meditating in order to shift your focus. And it all comes with practice and happens step by step.

@Littlefairy28

No apologies needed but thanks for the kindness. I actually agree with you 100%. I'm just so tired of all these things going on in my head, I don't want think of all of them anymore... They tire me out.

Refocus... Focus... Choose and do.... All requires thinking. I'm so tired of doing those things, I don't want to think anymore. But I still must do.

I'll get started on my brakes now. I let the monkeys get me for a couple hours. And thank you for your great insight and comments. I look forward to any replies.

Hey, thanks for the feedback and the researched tips! My thoughts are like yours, but 40-60 per minute. No wonder I'm exhausted all the time. Sometimes, we do what we need to just to quiet those, right?

As every day passes and I miss obligations and deadlines I vow not to make anymore promises until I can build a routine. I need my routine. if I cannot do anything else... I must have a routine. I see a strong routine as a strong foundation where all that is important is completed before promising my time and energy to other things.
