...See more This discussion forms part of our Life Challenges event. Click here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/siteupdates/EventsDiscussions_2666/August2024getinvolvedwithourlifechallengesevent_333814/] to read more about it! Life is hard and it's important that we're kind to ourselves. In the hustle and bustle of day-to-day challenges our achievements and gratitude can become easily clouded. This month we are going to try that little bit harder to acknowledge and celebrate everything that we are grateful for. How do I participate? 1. Every day for the month of August revisit this thread and list one new thing that you are grateful for. It can be something small like developing the strength to achieve a goal, or it could be something bigger and more meaningful. The possibilities are endless! 2. If you'd like to get reminded to post in the thread, click the subscribe bookmark in the bottom left hand corner. This will notify you each time someone replies to the thread, providing you with a natural reminder to post your daily gratitude.  3. Share the love. Share your support of others if you can by upvoting or replying to their posts. It can take a lot to share your gratitude so creating a safe space here is crucial for everyone's comfort.   4. There is no pressure to commit to it every day, but it'll be great and no doubt very rewarding if you could!  So, what are you grateful for today?

The importance of expressing ourselves when feeling dissatisfactionate
by eaterofwords85

...See more Today, I had a group task and one member was speaking while other tryed to cut for speak herself. The first one asked for finishing what he was talking and she felt resented going for a quiet introspection, clearly annoyed for not being able to talk, but not expressing it. That lead me to this text.  Expressing dissatisfaction is essential for healthy relationships and effective group dynamics. When we openly share our concerns, we create opportunities for understanding and problem-solving, preventing small issues from growing into larger conflicts. Clear communication also acknowledges that others cannot read our minds—without expressing our feelings, people may unknowingly cross boundaries or repeat behaviors that affect us negatively. By voicing dissatisfaction respectfully, we help others understand our needs and foster more empathetic and cooperative interactions.  Suppressing dissatisfaction can lead to internalized resentment, causing us to dwell on feelings of injustice, embarrassment, or invalidation. This emotional buildup can harm mental well-being and strain relationships. Openly addressing our feelings allows for emotional release and prevents destructive patterns of rumination. Ultimately, expressing dissatisfaction is not about creating conflict but about fostering honest, respectful communication that strengthens connections and promotes emotional balance.

...See more Hello, im new to the forum but not new to bettering myself. However the progress has been really touch and go. A close friend of mine passed away 2 months ago and some life circumstances have changed for me. Life feels incredibly overwhelming and I decided to make a definitive change. Today marks a week without weed and a few other crutches I’ve been using. I’ve never reached out to a support community before partially because of the belief I could resolve things alone, supported by incremental improvements, and because of fear. I’m not sure what the feeling of fear is from but it’s always been present. I reached a point where I wasn’t content with myself and needed something more concrete. The community on here is refreshing and I appreciate everyone. I’ve never talked about my experiences, besides with some previous partners, but I was assaulted on separate occasions when I was younger. Coping with that has always been hard. I feel like to improve myself and have the impact I want on the people around me I should try my best to “resolve,” that trauma. I feel like I owe the people I love the best and healthiest version of myself.

Daily Meditations by Marcus Aurelius - #5 - Not Good, Nor Bad

...See more "There is no evil in things changing, just as there is no good in persisting in a new state." - Marcus Aurelius, Meditations, Book 4:42 ------------------------- Ever notice how people say, 'Change is good!' when they’re trying to console themselves—or you? It's like they’re trying to convince themselves, too, because deep down, most of us are a bit wary of change. It’s human nature, right? We cling to the familiar and eye anything different with a bit of suspicion. But here's where the Stoics come in and say, 'Hold up!' They’d tell us to drop the 'good' and 'bad' labels altogether. Change isn’t inherently good, and the status quo isn’t necessarily bad—they just are. Things happen, and it’s only our opinion that slaps on the judgment. So, what’s the move here? Instead of fighting change or clinging to what’s comfortable, why not shift our mindset and make the most of every situation? That doesn’t mean we have to force a smile when things go sideways, but maybe, just maybe, we can find a way to roll with it. Embrace the uncertainty and let it show us something new. (This idea was sparked by a piece from Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday) ------------------------- Here's Previous One [https://www.7cups.com/forum/gratitude/PositiveMessagesReminders_2231/DailyMeditationsbyMarcusAurelius4ThisisaBIGGone_337350/]

...See more True wellness is more than a goal; it’s a commitment to yourself. Accountability is the foundation of lasting change—without it, we wander aimlessly, but with it, we take charge of our lives. When we hold ourselves accountable, we acknowledge that our health, habits, and happiness are in our control. It's not about perfection; it’s about progress and the courage to course-correct when needed. The choices you make today shape your tomorrow. Own your path, embrace responsibility, and unlock the power within you to thrive. Wellness begins and ends with you.

...See more I'm not sure exactly where to post this but i saw accountability and i guess this works, in short, i lied, i didn't know i was lying at the time but now, i think i was and I'm not sure if i want to see how it goes down if it ends up badly, this isn't really a small white lie and I'm not sure if it's another thing i get to just walk past in life it would prove allot of people who think less of me right, I've never been bullied to my knowledge but who knows it might start if this goes south, I'm scared too scared to sleep, I've seen all of my issues through for the most part but this may be too much for me. I think someone outside my situation probably wouldn't get why it's so bad but just imagine you got a promotion that nobody thought you would get but, it wasn't yours so now you sit there with others who earned it when you didn't so now you either stay with them and try to elevate yourself to their level so you can deserve the position with a chance of being caught, or you step down and face the people who knew you couldn't actually do it. none of these are good options but it's not like i can just do nothing i either do something or i "end" those are my options, and i think this might be it for me. because both options on the do something side end in tragedy. but I'm not sure if i want to end.
