August Gratitude Challenge: what are you grateful for?
by tommy
Last post
October 12th
...See more This discussion forms part of our Life Challenges event. Click here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/siteupdates/EventsDiscussions_2666/August2024getinvolvedwithourlifechallengesevent_333814/] to read more about it! Life is hard and it's important that we're kind to ourselves. In the hustle and bustle of day-to-day challenges our achievements and gratitude can become easily clouded. This month we are going to try that little bit harder to acknowledge and celebrate everything that we are grateful for. How do I participate? 1. Every day for the month of August revisit this thread and list one new thing that you are grateful for. It can be something small like developing the strength to achieve a goal, or it could be something bigger and more meaningful. The possibilities are endless! 2. If you'd like to get reminded to post in the thread, click the subscribe bookmark in the bottom left hand corner. This will notify you each time someone replies to the thread, providing you with a natural reminder to post your daily gratitude.  3. Share the love. Share your support of others if you can by upvoting or replying to their posts. It can take a lot to share your gratitude so creating a safe space here is crucial for everyone's comfort.   4. There is no pressure to commit to it every day, but it'll be great and no doubt very rewarding if you could!  So, what are you grateful for today?

...See more I welcome anyone to commit to a goal here today.  But importantly, talk about getting it done..... or why it didn't happen yet. To praise each other for our efforts and wins. While supporting each other through trials and setbacks. And to continue trying and not give up. Remember:  Every Goal should be considered "Worthy". Never belittle your achievements and be proud of yourself for your daily accomplishments! Whether they be Complex or Simple. Getting out of bed is a good day..... Good job I say! Share your goals today, for support and encouragement. @Apeatrice @decisiveBranch2794 @IchooseLife79 @cloudySummer @mytwistedsoul @KristenHR @Tinywhisper11 @CyclingThroughLife @Psalm139 @Enthenia @anonyTortoise3336 @spicyavocado3788 @neatBlueberry5213 @AmyK1234 @ivoryLakeuk @MusokeHere @seashell145 And Any Others. There is no such thing as Failure
by Heera72

...See more There might have been a lot of times in our lives where we would been wallowing in self-pity because of having missed an opportunity, not having met our goal, or just life going in a way we don't want it to. Not only do such instances make us feel worse, but they also imbibe in us a sense of fear. That might lead us to question our self-worth and lower our self-confidence. However, we need to know that there is no such thing as failure because we only learn something from it. Our plans don't always have to work out the way we would have imagined, so it is important not to question our worth but to keep going ahead without giving much thought to it and know that we might reach there someday. It is not so easy to go past things that mean so much to us, but when we build ourselves for the better, our confidence and our self-worth will also be high enough for us not to question the things that are out of our control and will make us focus only on the things that we can control. It is only a failure when we have given up on ourselves before others and are willing to lose ourselves for things. https://yourmentalhealthpal.com/effective-tips-on-how-to-cope-with-failure/

SilverSwan's accountability journal

...See more Hello everyone! I’ll be posting here weekly to reflect on my progress and goals. I’m hoping this journal will provide accountability and prevent me falling into old habits. Feel free to post any suggestions, advice, or any kind of comments. 😉 Week 1 Overview I’m a college student studying for a Computer Science major. This week I had my finals and everything went well. I already received my scores and should hopefully be getting straight As this semester. This of course makes me happy, however, I have to admit that this semester’s workload was way less compared to previous ones. I still need to improve my discipline and learning skills. I have started to implement various things to create a productivity system. First, I’m using Beeminder and Forfeit to make more imposing deadlines. I’m also using Forest to track my focused time each day. This week, I spent less focused time compared to previous weeks. !https://i.imgur.com/xm2V3rg.jpeg Goals, Values, and Progress I haven’t really spent much time thinking about my goals… I should change that, for now these are my provisional long/medium-term goals: * Get a job during winter/spring (hopefully online) * Make 3 computer science projects for my resume * Get straight As next semester * Get a summer 2025 internship Progress by Values * Health * Not much progress here, I went to the gym less than previous weeks and I constantly feel tired. I’m having trouble sleeping, I believe I’m ill. Next week I’ll probably go see a doctor. * Also, since college is over I’ll find a routine that is 5-6 days long compared to my current 3 days per week. * Wisdom * It finally clicked how important and useful “chunking” can be for learning. This was massively helpful for my exams. * Discipline * Spent less focused time than previous weeks. Still, I learned a lot of tips to combat procrastination in “The Procrastination Equation”. I think my decrease in focused time is because college is over so I don’t really have any pressing goals. Hopefully next week will be better. * Communication * Not much progress here. I have a bit of social anxiety I have to work through. I would like to come back to my workbook of social anxiety. * Tranquility * Not much progress, although I don’t feel bad for it. I think out of all my “values” this is the one that I have developed the most. I’m pretty calm most of the time, I have felt a bit frustrated though. Previous Week’s goals In this section I’ll write my progress on the goals I set out to do that week. Goals for Next Week * [ ] Finish reading “The Procrastination Equation” * [ ] Apply to at least 2 jobs * [ ] Email professors * [ ] Have at least 16 hours of focused time by the end of the week * [ ] Complete 9 sections of the FreeCodeCamp course

I want to tell you about "BOPs"

...See more I struggle a lot with depression etc, and part of that is total lack of motivation/energy which isn't helped much by my physical mobility issues.  Some days it can be really hard for me to do anything at all.  One thing that has been working for me, is doing what we call BOPs, or little Bursts of Productivity.  it can be anything at all, and for as long or as short as needed, as long as i get moving.  I will usually either set my alarm for every hour, or get up every hour on the hour, and get up for 5-15 mins (sometimes i will go as much as forty mins etc), but even if i don't feel like doing anything, my BOP that hour might just be getting up and walking across the house to the kitchen, and that's all i have the energy for.  Anything at all just to keep me moving.   full disclosure - i still struggle doing BOPs at all on some days (and sometimes a lot of days in a row), but since i broke getting up into little "bite sized" bursts of productivity its been a lot more likely that i do them.   i hope other people are able to benefit from this, and find some hope in knowing you don't need to push yourself to do big goals, even just stretching can be a BOP
