My Meditation

MeeshyRB February 8th, 2020

I recently started colouring again and it has become a form of meditation for me. I'm a perfectionist so when I first started it was more stressful than anything and I had to learn not to criticize everything! Now, whenever I feel stressed I colour it away.

Thanks for sharing! I like to color too! It's really relaxing. I learned once how to color from my 5 year old son. I bought a cheap $1 hello kitty coloring book and was coloring through the book very carefully. My son asked if he could color with me in my book too instead of in his superhero coloring book. How could I say no? He took a green crayon, and completely free-spirited gave hello kitty a big bright green smudgy scrible for a face (completely hopelessly out of the lines.... and beyond any hopes of redemption)....lolololol...

At first my heart skipped a beat... was my book ruined?

Then I caught him looking up at me with the widest grin of pride, joy and self-satisfaction on his face...and then for a moment, looking to see if I was pleased....

In that moment, I decided to just enjoy the moment of play, I laughed and decided to let go and follow his lead.... I colored a page too... with reckless abandonment, laughing with wild joy...completely ignoring the "supposed-to-correct" colors and any suggestion to stay in the line. My son was delighted beyond measure... giggling like music that fills a room...

We laughed, we had fun and it was so freeing----

I don't color like that all the time...lol... it was just nice to play and not be in my box... sometimes :)

Thanks for sharing your fun with colors and coloring... it brought back a wonderful memory with my son! Thank you! Happy coloring!
