Mindful Writing
Earphones... An android app for relaxation through music... Hands on my pen... Pen on paper... Thoughts & piano... Mindfulness!
What and how do I feel right now? Tensed.. Too many things to attend to... Irritation in the stomach... Restless feet... Distractions... Focus... More distractions.....................
Focus... Silence... A few deep breaths... Calm...
What am I trying to focus on? The passing thoughts, emotions, reactions, my breath!
The mind is like a street. There's a bench on the sidewalk of the street, on the other side of the wide street is a long lake and behind the sidewalk is a large park. I separate myself from my mind - the street, & I take a seat on the bench under the big tree. As I sit down and relax I watch the street.
Cars... Motorbikes... Bicycles... Vans... All sorts of vehicles... People... Of all colors.. From all walks of life... Children... Roadside shacks... Traffic jams... People shouting at each other... Chaos... Hustle Bustle... A very busy street...!
The more I watch them, the more they pass out of my vision. Gradually, the street starts clearing up! Now I see children... Balloons... Laughs... The lake across the street... The street is almost empty now!
I get up, walk and cross the street to have a better view of the lake. The afternoon sun... The clear sparkling water... Couple of speedboats sailing at a distance... Some flying birds... some sitting on the iron railings surrounding the lake... Watching the beauty of the lake with me!
I hear laughs & giggles far away behind me. That's when a beautiful little bird flies past me and I turn around to watch it flying! I am now leaning against the railings of the lake, the bird is gone... But I see the park now, to which I had turned my back for so long! I didn't notice earlier that there was some kind of a small fair arranged for children in the park! Little kids... Walking, running, hopping, jumping... Inconsistently, happily, adorably... Colorful dresses... Balloons... Ice-creams... Clowns... Lollipops... Smiles...
I cross the road again, this time I walk into the park, the fair... To get a bunch of lollipops and balloons for myself ! πβ€
@peacefulWarrior10
i can't remember the last time i bought a balloon for myself. :) i think i'm gonna go do that one of these days.
sometimes, i write like this too, just jotting down what goes on around you like when i'm in a park and observing my surroundings and other people. or if i don't have writing materials, or mostly moving around, i do a voice recording instead.
@CoconutShell2310 Hi, thank you for reading this and sharing your thoughts! I hope you liked it π Go get some balloons for me too πππ Aren't they beautiful things? π Hope to read some writings from you too someday soon!
When I wrote this post, I was at home. I was practising mindfulness through writing. As I wrote - "I separate myself from my mind - the street, & I take a seat on the bench under the big tree. As I sit down and relax I watch the street" - I actually took an imaginary seat on the bench to watch my life as it continued being messy. Without separating yourself from you, you can't observe your life mindfully. So the street and its description afterwards, was just a comparison out of my imagination as I watched my mind from a distance, allowed the messy thoughts to pass so that I could focus on what really mattered π
@peacefulWarrior10 Uhh that is clever! By thinking outside the box it probably helped calmed you down because it was more thinking. I will have to try that because when I do it mine is in my room and i am writing the same stuff so it doesn't really help!
@fighter23
Hey... so glad to see you here! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.. an reading my post π I'd like you to try this sometime... you already do some mood journaling, right? So this might bring some creativity to your writing and help you relax β―π
@peacefulWarrior10 you're welcome! I was just browsing through some stuff and figured I would take the time to read it. I will definitely try it when I need to calm down. Thanks for sharing! :)
@peacefulWarrior10 oh and yes I do mood journaling occasionally. Positivity journal daily.
