I think a common misconception about mindfulness is that it’s always sunshine and rainbows, gratitude & positivity. and while these things are certainly a part of mindfulness, so are their counterparts, one being discomfort. practicing mindfulness during uncomfortable situations or emotions is so hard. yet, I think it can be one of the most transformative aspects of mindfulness. when we let ourselves fully embrace pain, suffering, or the like, it can be the first step in letting go of these experiences.

today, if you feel called, let yourself sit in your discomfort, for a moment or two. maybe consider sharing what it was like to let yourself fully experience the uncomfortable emotions, thoughts, or memories.

You bring forth such a relevant thought, Kait.

In all honesty, I feel, oftentimes many people struggle with including mindfulness in their life (despite wanting to), because of this very reason, because of the discomfort and the thorns.

Mindfulness allows a certain cathartic release of emotions and that can include both positive and not so positive ones, the thorny ones, from the analogy here, but it's true, that even allowing oneself to sit through this initial discomfort can be therapeutic and helpful.

More embracing and letting it flow, Less suppressing and avoiding! Yus!🙌
