Self - Sabotage is when we undermine progresses and prevents us from reaching goals we make. We tend to undermine our intentions and long term goals. This can be from childhood issues to relationships we are in, low self esteem.
Self Sabotage tends to serve as a coping mechanism. Sometimes we can feel when we are too hard on ourselves. When we lower our self esteem is when we begin to be hard on ourselves and trying to get out of this can be hard.

What are some ways to stop being hard ourselves ?
Supportive self-talk is a helpful tool for me. I like to remind myself of what I've overcome in the past and what I achieved so far in respect of personal growth.
