Something I always like to remember is performing 'Like the Way I Do' (Melissa Etheridge) solo at a choir fundraiser night. The brief back story is, that me & my singing partner were to perform 'Closer to Fine' by the Indigo Girls (great harmonies). However, my singing partner had to bow out. I was approached if I wanted to perform something or just scratch our appearance. I asked for 5 minutes to decide. I sat down, away from the stage, guitar in hand. I had been playing this song on guitar, as a 'personal' song privately daily. After going through general chords, lyrics and bridges of the song, I approached the MC and said 'yes, let's do this.' I stepped out, when announced, addressed the audience of the change in the song,etc. Took a deep breath & got down to business! lol
At the end of it all, all I remember was this overwhelming applaud, people on their feet cheering, and the MC, backstage crew coming up and hugging me!
This makes me feel I know I can perform under pressure. And, oh - happy! It is a very memory!
