Dinner With our Alumni: KateDoskocilova

FrenchToast July 19th, 2021

Hello all! I am excited to announce a new Sunday dinner! For those that don't know, Dinner With Our Alumni is a series of small interviews that I conduct with 7 Cups Academy alumni to know more about their journey in the program - this post is dedicated to the Leadership Development Program! The aim is to spread more awareness about the program and hope everyone gives it a read!

This week we have, the lovely @KateDoskocilova! Kate is an amateur model, a writer (currently working on their first ever complete book :o), and a mental health speaker (they have their own platform to talk about mental health and such issues) - Kate is a superwoman! She has been a listener since August 2020 and already has made so much impact. They are a strong advocate to the LGBTQ+ subcommunity and do a lot of it! They are also a Sharing Circle host so you must've seen them around in the chat rooms helping peers out heart

What was on the menu? Spaghetti, Souvlaki (a classic and typical Greek food), and Crepes! *instant food coma*

Without further ado, here's Kate for you:

What made you join the LDP?

What made me join the LDP was that I wanted to make sure I was educated enough on being a leader before getting a role for the community!

How was your experience doing the coursework?

My experience during the coursework was pretty nice. It was easier than I thought, to be honest!

Did you find it easy to navigate through the forums for each course?

In the beggining, I thought it'd be very hard, but I soon figured things out myself and since I organized everything so that I wouldn't get lost/forget anything, it became an easy-peasy thing to go through.

How did you dedicate your time to doing the coursework?

I dedicated my time by completing the coursework most of the time, as well as learning further information about the roles.

Which course did you like the most? And why?

I mostly liked the coursework with the book, "7 Cups for the Searching Soul," since it had some useful information and was interesting to read!

How are you liking the role you got into for the LDP?

I got into the Room Supporter role after the program, and I am currently a Moderator for that room since I applied to upgrade from an RS to a centered mod.

If you had to give one tip to the current trainees, what would that be?

It's that what would be most needed to understand the course is to first take a look around the forums and make sure to read the emails sent by the project leaders well so that it's easier to navigate yourself through the forums and not get lost.

What can we do to make the program better?

I don't think there's anything that could be done to make the program better since it's already nicely organized and prepared, as well as it has enough information that will be needed for trainees who want to become leaders.

Thank you for reading till here! I would love to hear any suggestions/question ideas that I can add to this series. If you are an LDP graduate and would love to contribute, please PM me so we can set up our dinner! Meanwhile, please give a big shout-out to @KateDoskocilova for doing this, you're amazing!
