Hello everyone,

If you are reading this, it means you have come a long way in your leadership training. Kudos to you for all the effort and resilience you have shown! It is amazing how you all are open to learning and adapting to new environments: the environment of leadership!

Before we zoom in and talk more about learning and adapting, lets zoom back out first and talk about how you feel about leadership. Regardless of how you see yourself, there is a leader within you. The one who visualizes how things could have run in a better way if you were in the leading spot. Leading spot here means:

A desire for change;

Believing you got the abilities to make it happen;

Visualizing success while keeping in mind the bigger picture.

To lead others effectively, you need a good blend of 4 broad competencies area

H_ckCipCkpMoTvvo6__aXBnWAr1QZI13_T5uugP134h9_q7-qeAa1_FbkocnQA9EQXQ12hRWEhFehSDP6kRw9AblAxgYpY6LI8TUwWa55L2DB7LiMRrYI1KaSCp_uyXyjqBBoM1i

If you have a surplus amount of knowledge on how to lead but not a good emotional quotient (EQ), you will find it hard to tackle leadership challenges. Having a good EQ is as important as having the right skills, and if you have skills but not the right attitude and values, you won't be able to achieve your full potential as a leader. Your attitude and values impact how others view you as a leader. We need an alignment in all 4 areas.

You have your very own leadership style based on your competency level. So, the next step is to label your original leadership style. Because you can switch to any leadership style with deliberate effort, thought, and adaptation.

Daniel Goleman categorizes leadership approaches in 6 broad styles. Authoritative, Coaching, Affiliative, and Democratic help one to promote harmony and positive outcomes while Coercive and Pacesetting styles of leadership need to be used in specific situations as they could cause tension.

Your original style could be one of them. So for the purpose of this course, we are going to use a leadership style test to help you identify your core competencies. In brief, we are using the test here to help you identify your leadership approach. So, when you know how you approach an event, you could think and put efforts to bring a change in it. It will allow you to polish your strengths and focus to improve in other different areas as well.

Lets get started!

- Please take the leadership style test here: https://www.energir.com/blogue/en/at-work/quiz-what-kind-of-leader-are-you/

Next step, below in the comments of this discussion, share

1. What is your leadership style?
2. What is one thing you learned about yourself?
3. What is one thing you would like to improve upon?
4. Please reply to 3 of your peers in this thread!

After fulfilling the requirements of this post, please check out the next post here! You must take part in the brainstorming/activities given in all of these posts to successfully complete the program.

I'm an Affiliative leader.

I prioritize working as a team and have a knack for getting people who work alone to work as a team. I understand the needs of my team and the things required to achieve our goal.

Although affiliative, I also tend to be a little authoritative, since I love specificities and technicalities. I wish to encourage myself to be able to understand vague things.

@KimByeongIn We have the same leadership style! Also, being authoritative sometimes is sometimes good to have, as it can help the team members set up expectations and work towards it

Welcome to the Affiliative Leaders Club

It is interesting to read how accurate these are and it is great to be able to use this to understand ourselves.

I believe we need a different range of leader types in order to maintain and improve services.

@Heather225 1. What is your leadership style?

My leadership style is affiliative leader. It says " You have a leadership style that encourages relationships between people, prompting them to work together. Your approach involves focusing on the importance of working together. You also understand the needs of your team and your partners very well, and you try to satisfy them. Your greatest strength lies in your ability to ease tensions or motivate all your team members during difficult periods. You also have a knack for getting people who are accustomed to working alone to work together instead.

2. What is one thing you learned about yourself?

I learnt that my greatest strength lies in my ability to ease tensions. I believe teamwork is the dream work and we can achieve it through continuous team efforts. Giving people the role they are comfortable with is important because of the interdependence of the three things explained in course 1. As a leader, it would be my responsibility to make sure all of us are improving and working together. If one goes forward, leaving the other it could also affect the team's efficiency which would again not meet the requirements we are expected to meet. Working alone can feel comfortable for us as a person, but working together is a lot easier, understanding each other's needs and working towards it

3. What is one thing you would like to improve upon?

I personally feel as a team member I would prefer to have my little space to work on. But I realized that teamwork can be really helpful. It is good to ask for a feedback or team's point of view on the task I am doing and improving myself according to it. Also, getting constructive feedback can be helpful in teamwork.

2. What is one thing you learned about yourself?

I didn't really learn anything, I knew this already, but nobody has ever believed in me to succeed before or given me a chance.

3. What is one thing you would like to improve upon?

I would love to learn more about good team building skills as I believe, at times, people have the potential and would love to be able to support them to shine and become the best they can be by breaking down barriers that prevent this.

1. What is your leadership style? I'm an affiliative leader! :D <3

2. What is one thing you learned about yourself? I've always considered myself a collaborative team member, never a leader. But after taking the quiz, it made me realise it's also a type of leadership.

3. What is one thing you would like to improve upon? Oh, gods and goddesses, the list is long, lol. But I guess it's the fact that not all people can be like me. I meant this in the humblest way I can. What I mean by it is for team members to be more collaborative and to be more invested in the projects and not just do the bare minimum.I see work as not just a task to be ticked off from a list at the end of the day; it's helping grow a brand that you're working for and that takes emotions, too.

Hello everyone,

#1: I am a visionary leader!

#2: I learned that I take control of situations while having empathy & motivation.

#3: If I had to pick one thing to improve on I would say just being more aware of any situation along with how this may impact others.
