First Psych ward Experience
Hello I am not sure why I am making this to be honest but I just want to talk about the time I had gone to a psych ward in Minnesota.
I am a juvenile so I was with people around my age. I write stories and have one about some prisoners, so when I had actually gone there and saw my room it was really frightening. For the first few days I stayed in my room and maybe occasionally going to the group talks.
The therapist there was awesome, he was funny and allowed people to swear during it, and also said that we were fine to yell about stuff.
A few days and I got to talk with the other people there. There was only a few people maybe like four or five.
The time we really started talking was in this group thing where we would draw zen drawings? While we were drawing we could request songs (clean version on youtube). Most of the songs that they requested were the similar music taste like mine.
A part thats really funny is that one person, Haru [not real name ofc, just an alternative name they liked] requested Chop Suey and the person looking after us blasted it and we were head banging to the music. It was actually really nice and fun.
[One of the songs that they requested and I really loved was Voices in my Head by Falling in Reverse]
Another time we got to go to a game room with a bunch of stuff. I played ping pong with one person. Then four of us played uno. Then we could actually talk and get to know each other a tiny bit. This one girl that wore purple always got the +2/4 cards and we were laughing so much about that.
I may be childish but I think that we could be friends if the circumstances were different. So I made little cards for them hoping that they get better soon and to wish them well. I wasnt expecting it but Haru had given one to me back.
It was really surprising but it was really nice, and I brought it home with me. Though I thought I put it somewhere safe, when I moved to my dads house it must have gone missing so I was really sad about that.
The next day was the last of mine, so I had got my things together while the rest were in a group talk. Before I left I asked the nurse helping me get ready to leave to say goodbye to them.
We gave air hugs and said goodbye. It was sad to say goodbye but Im glad that I had a good experience with the first time going to a psych ward.
I know its pretty impossible that they would even see this but, if they're out there at all I hope you're doing well or getting better now ! As I said earlier I would probably be friends with you guys if in a different situation :'D
@noodlesss Thank you for sharing your experience. Even though you weren't sure why you wanted to talk about it, it's important to open up and express your thoughts and feelings.
It sounds like your time in the psych ward had some unexpected moments of connection and even fun. The little cards you made for them and the one you received from Haru show the genuine kindness and friendship that can emerge in challenging situations.
Saying goodbye can indeed be difficult, but it's wonderful that you had a positive experience during your stay. Your hope that you could be friends under different circumstances is a testament to the bonds that can form even in challenging situations.
I'm sure your words will resonate with others who have had similar experiences. If you ever want to share more or just talk, feel free to reach out 😊
