Critical Thinking

Hey IDG folks!

I think critical thinking is so important in today's world where we have access to so much information. It is so important to take the time to ask questions of the information you have access to and really take the time to understand where it comes from and the kind of influences that go into producing this information. Critical thinking allows us to build our own opinions of things by weighing their  pros and cons while also allowing us to think about how they impact our lives. It can be harmful to just accept things and adopt them as beliefs without critically examining them first.

Critical thinking might also help us find creative solutions to our problems. For example, I might have some difficulty understanding an idea. Critically thinking about it would encourage me to think about what is is about the idea that makes it confusing or what it could be in me that makes it difficult for me to understand the idea. This would allow me or whoever is teaching me to figure out how to frame or present the idea in a creative way that also makes it more accessible.

Questions:

1) How can we incorporate more critical thinking in our lives

2) Can you give me an example of a time you used critical thinking?

@violetdreamer07 Love that! Critical thinking can be incorporated more by identifying a problem, researching and taking others views on board through active listening, asking questions, question other's and our own biases and come to a solution. Our solution may still have holes and gaps but the key is to think objectively in some cases

@violetdreamer07 I work for a few charities and I always have to critically analyse every choice I make for the betterment of others. Helps me not to act on impulse-instead approach each situation with patience and objectivity.
